    Double Hmm

I went through in about 2 mins and found I’m:

    Economic Left/Right: -6.12
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.67

Down there with Nelson Mandela and the Dali Lama.

Now I reckon Nelson is as close to living “saint” (foilbles and all) as we’re gonna get, but I remember the Tory students wearing “Hang Mandela” t-shirts.

The greatest irony was when, on his state visit to Britain soon after becoming President, Mandela was invited to stay with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. He requested a private meeting there with one of his greatest tormenters and one of the strongest supporters of the apartheid regime, Margaret Thatcher! He refused to say what he said to her at that meeting!;)

But it was worth seeing her face when the then speaker of Parliament, Betty Bothroyd, said at the joint Commons & Lords reception for Mandela, that he embodied the human spirit at its best in his refusal to be beaten by 27 years of confinement and still had the generosity of spirit to forgive those who thought him less of a man because of who he was rather than what he thought or believed in.

I don’t hold truck with organised religion, so the Dala Lamai I can take or leave! :p

    Best regards

These quizzes are a great way to increase your knowlege – and are fun too- including all the obscure ones!

While not many people have the opportunity to visit airfields/spot planes like Arthur or Distiller, it is great that they can share their pleasure with the rest of us.

Just to let you know that something that is complete rubbish is “absolute balls” or just “complete b@llocks” (spell it out-boll@cks = testicles!)

On the other hand, not to be confused with e.g. “This aircraft is the dog’s boll@cks!”, meaning it is great!

    😀 😀

I just heard a man and a young boy apparently survived 6 days without food or water!

I didn’t think it was possible to survive without water at least for more than 3-4 days.

    Sad loss.

Great musician – was in Vineger Joe in sixties – always had style – some great videos and album covers! (girl on the beach-early one-forget the name)

Some recent good songs :”Takes every kinda of people” and his version of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy mercy me/I want you.”

Are you saying all these years we were fighting the “evil empire” for nothing. All that struggle to fight the good fight against what was clearly contrary and hostile to the human spirit was a waste of time?

Is might (=your relevance?) right- somewhat similar to the Mr Miachivelli’s conclusion in his seminal work The Prince-crush your enemies ruthlessly lest they rise up and smite you in turn-rule by terror, sounds familiar? Yes, I thought so! Why, this is the ethos our old friend Saddam lives by, and there was I thinking he had the current rights on such clear-sighted insights 🙂

And why do you think its just the French and not just most of Mankind-don’t get me wrong: it was great Saddam was disposed, but please don’t make out that because you’re stronger and can do something you’re also right, as opposed to fulfilling narrow National interests as well as just venting a bit of revenge for 9/11 !

What registers in your consciousness as relevant is not necessarily what is actually the case.

As Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth, and upholder of the ultimate Sovereign power of the people thorough Parliament over a Monarch (sorry this bit must have gone right over you-just came back from the Pub), said (During the English Civil War in the 1640s) “I beseech you in the bowels of Christ, think it possible that you might be wrong”.
