Hi guys, just to let you know, I was there and got plenty of pictures.
I’ll be all over Europe for the next week or two, but when I get back home to Australia I’ll sort out few pictures and post here.
What an awesome experience that was for me!
I’ve never been to Russia before and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of things, and dissapointed by only a few, most notably by the Taxi drivers, for example costing $50US to get there and asking $200US to drive me back to the hotel!!!
I’ll also have few tips on how to do things there and where to stay at a decent rate etc etc.
I’d like to say thanks to Arthur who provided me with some advice and help before I left.
It was a bit of last minute decision to go, and as such a miracle that it happened, as my passport was expired and only realised few days before I decided to go, then didn’t know that I need invitation to get a visa, then to process the visa had to pay premium price to get it done the same day, got my visa on same day as I left….:) at the end was well worth it:)
I’ll be definitely back next time, at this stage I got my sights set for Farnborough next year:)
best regards, to all.
LM
Hi my apologies guys, I’ve been away from these forums and just about everything else for that matter, for the past weeks.
Anyhow, although pre-ocupied with other stuff I still want to go to MAKS and, well yes I’m working flat out on last minute preparations, tickets and visa is in progress and all comes with a premium price, so the cost of accomodation at this stage becomes irelevant:)
I wont be there for the whole event (21-26/08/2007) but I should be there on 24/25/26 so see what happens.
I’ll leave Moscow the next day on 27th.
If anyone is interested to catch up there or go for a drink or whatever, or offer advise help or anything drop me a line

Well see what happens:)
P.S. thanks for the advice above, I’ll take it into consideration:)

Ahhh Seagal. What happened to your career?? :diablo:
After yesterday’s horseback shenanigans (full-throttle gallop downhill!), I decided to watch Hidalgo again. Not your usual horse-racing film, being about endurance rather than track racing, but it’s also a good old-fashioned adventure movie as well, and a moving ending to boot.
Yes, Hidalgo – I’ve seen it a while back, it is not my usual type of movie, but I still quite enjoyed that one:)

Flight of fury – with Steaven Seagull, what a pathetic attempt @ something:(
they are showing F-14 and F-18 taking off from a carrier, but in the air and the striking etc F-16 Agressor Falcons..!!!?
I could swear that it was also some “recycling” from Iron Eagle.
Ah well….

Actually the horizontal stabilazers don’t look too bad, although I agree – on the small side, however the vertical ones are grossly undersize, unless they know something that we don’t, then again yhe aerodynamics works the same for everybody and if it is small it is small…
F-15 Eagle – guaranteed.
Here’s an unrestricted climb video. This plane is very, very powerful.
Hey, saw that one, pretty awesome, it is a pitty it wasn’t a bit closer and / or better quality, impressive none the less, would make you wonder how much fuel is left on the top of the climb.

I’m not sure how effective F-22 is as a strike aircraft ATM or whether it makes sense @ all.
Although it seems a lot of people may not see the imediate use or need for F-22 @ all, today or tomorrow or in the next 5 years, but who knows what may happen in 10 – 20 years it could be quite effective and useful in some conflicts or situation at that time.
Most of the aircraft are designed with 20-30+ years lifespan and as such for future needs, it may not be “war on terror” forever, maybe a different war, who knows…
Hey Flex, is that you in the pic…? it is always interesting to see what “invisible” people look like…:)
I mean, we talk to people, argue with them agree with them, whatever, but it strange we don’t know who we are talking to…:o
Hmmm may try that myslef, put pic of me up there in the corner…
regards
I doubt they would have hit power lines, it seems more likely that it was a failure of some sort. They fly the display the day prior to get a feel for the area, and they take great care to identify all obstructions beforehand and plan around them accordingly.
The initial report and eye-witness account suggests that it hit a pine-tree.
We wont know for a while whether there was a mulfunction of some sort that might have caused to go too low or whether was pilot error, although I doubt that could be the case, since the blue angels are very competitive and capable pilots…
no matter what the cause – still a sad loss
just now on CNN
— The pilot of a U.S. Navy Blue Angels F/A-18 jet that crashed at an air show in South Carolina is dead, the Beaufort County coroner says.
Details still sketchy, but would appear at least one dead so far….
This update just out on CNN:

Guys, first of all I’m a licensed firearms owner, both long-arms and handguns, so please don’t get me wrong here, I’m just trying to point out how other people may see us.
For this privilege (owing firearms), I had to do quite a few things, spend a lot of money, do safety courses, background checks, fingerprints taken etc.
Also the way they being stored/locked and kept are also subject to strict regulations.
As such I fully understand and appreciate the fact that gun ownership is a big responsibility and a privilege where I live and not a right, like in US.
Even being a right (as in US), perhaps that right could be (in my opinion) exercised with a bit more responsibility, and perhaps the authorities could put few more checks and regulations in place, perhaps to prevent or to reduce the chance of the wrong people getting them, as it was the case with the person responsible for the latest shooting.
Regardless where we are, all of us (the legal gun owners) are having a major problem and issues when it comes to arguing the point that we should have the right or the privilege of owning firearms – as you might have guessed it already:
Just about all of the biggest mass / random shootings where large number of people have been killed or wounded, have been done with legally owned guns , so no IFS and BUTS about it when it comes to general public or anti-gun people, so in their opinion it is pretty simple who shouldn’t have guns – the “normal” or licensed people.
I might not agree with them, but at same time I can understand how human mind works: the legally owned firearms are the problem.
Well think about it, yes if you ban the legal ones – only the criminals would have them, true – but the criminals usually don’t go and commit mass murders in schools etc, like I said above most of the mass shootings were done with “legal” firearms.
The criminals use them more often than not to kill each other or rob banks or whatever…..they don’t go shoot at random and kill tens of people in schools etc.
I know sounds stupid and at first doesn’t make sense, but unfortunately that is the problem, that WE, the licensed and responsible gun owners are having, it only takes one nut-case or sh!t-head with a legally purchased gun (because the system let him) to make all of us look bad and un-trustworthy, and in the case of Aus, twice we had to pay the price and had confiscations and laws changed:(
Well, unfortunately after the latest tragedy, the anti gun lobby may have a stronger case…..:(
