LOL, I don’t have to tell him, he’s probably watching from somewhere:)
well in the movie the americans were saying that it was mach 6 capable??!
faster than a a2a missile?!
my 3 would be first the hawker hunter the folland midge (Laterthe gnat) anf the sabre f86 for clean lines other 7 wo uld be the spitfire , mustang , sea fury mirage3 ,fiat g91(pan) mosquito , and the voodoo f101 , dragline (dab )
fair enough, but how can a propeller driven aircraft be a cool jet fighter?
๐
-spitfire , mustang , sea fury, mosquito ???
Partially right, partially wrong.
Su-27 has a first credited missile kill performed by a woman. Don’t know the name, but she was definitely Ethiopian, not Russian. The guy in the MiG-29UB was her former instructor. Ergo, ETAF Flankers must have been flown by Ethiopians, too.
hardly an achievement, she shot down an unarmed 2 seater training aircraft, according to ACIG, so mig-29 has shot down a civilian cessna, and the su-27 unarmed mig-29ub, so let’s call it square:)
sorry I couldn’t help it.:)
Only 24 hours later, a new – but highly interesting – engagement developed over the Badme area. This time, a lonesome Su-27S, flown by female pilot Capt. Aster Tolossa, was escorting several MiG-21s on a strike mission, when a single aircraft was detected, closing from the direction of Asmara. Capt. Tolossa turned to intercept and identified the target as an – apparently unarmed – Eritrean MiG-29UB. After some maneuvering, during which there was some kind of communications exchange between the crew of the MiG and the Sukhoi, the Ethiopian was high at enemy’s 6 o’clock, when she realized that the pilot of the aircraft in front of her was her former instructor. Capt. Tolossa immediately warned him that she was about to shot him down, and requested the Eritrean to land at Debre Zeit. He disobeyed, and Tolossa pulled the trigger. Exactly which weapon was used this time remains unknown, but it is highly likely that the Ethiopian used at least two air-to-air missiles, both of which were evaded, and then finished the target with 30mm gunfire. The Eritrean pilot was certainly experienced enough to evade two missiles, and he also knew who and where was the enemy. While it remains unknown if anybody ejected from that MiG-29UB, it is certain that Capt. Tolossa was given a hero’s wellcome back at her base; with right, then she was the first female fighter-pilot to show down an enemy fighter-jet in the history of air warfare.
How could anyone say the F-8 is ugly ? ๐ She is simply so gorgeous.
I’ll second that, I agree!
1. X-32 JSF
2. the super transporter with the superfat fuselage
3. vulcan
4. gloster javelin

9. F9F Panther
10. Sea Harrier with the really long proboscis-like nose
Well that is logical, A F-4 says : Iยดm gonna kill you now – you sorry SoFaB.
a F-16 says : Iยดm gonna drop a bomb now, that might hurt. Be carefull out there. ๐
LOL, but true!
“You do… Just refer to Royal Saudi Air Force, where large sums of money meet incompetency and lack of technical knowledge… Western analyst have evaluated that even equipped with superior hardware like M1A, F-15 or Tornado, Saudi Arabia alone would have lost a war against Iraq (prior to DS1, of course).. Saudis have lots of parts and still cannot manage to maintain their aircraft on their own.”
lol, well, I see what you mean, but I will not going to respond to that as I may get myself into trouble:)
the above reminds me of similar scenario, however diferent subject, the response I gave had everybody laughing for days, except the people in question who were less then impressed and called me names etc. don’t ask.
“Now you are mistaken. Su-27s have scored multiple kills against MiG-29s in Eritrean-Ethiopian war. This is one of the few conflicts that really shows real capabilities of involved aircraft – both sides had no force multipliers and equally trained pilots with comparable stick time, a great proof of MiG-29’s inability to counter big fighters like Su-27 and F-15.”
thanks for that, I honestly believed they were never involved, may do little bit of google search, see what pops up.
“BTW, F-15s have something over 80 kills..”
hmmm … Im sure I saw something like 105, I think might have been on acig?
I’ll see if I can find it.
“If the whole system is a winner, not the aircraft, then it is advisable to rephrase the topic of this thread to *USAF, the best fighter force in the world*. I will be the first one to second that.. But never on F-15 alone..”
well it is up to you how you look at it, but the way I see it the aircraft itself may have top specs and capabilities etc, but if its weapons system or radar fails or is piloted by a pilot who’s not well trained it can not be the best fighter aircraft, no matter what, the rest of it is part of: “what if”
the oposite makes the f-15 the best fighter aircraft, and that’s how it is.
you don’t see F-15 having trouble with its equipment or being piloted by incompetent pilots? that’s what I mean in “system”.
“Pardon me, but if it is combat record what really counts today then the best fighters are easily Messerschmitt Bf109 and Fw190A.”
well fair enough, it’s a decent argument, except for the fact that there’s not many of them “today” in active service as fighter aircraft.:)
“But then, no F-15C has ever shot down any Flanker to prove its superiority so what result are you talking about in the case of Su-27?”
again I agree, but… su-27 hasn’t shot any f-15c either, or hasn’t shot anything at all for that matter, I may be mistaken, but I don’t think it has been involved in any combat, so as much as I like the su-27 I can’t realy say that is better than f-15c, I just want it to be.
The F-15 might have shot mostly inferiour aircraft, but nonetheless always come out on top, their equipment and weapon systems has been proven reliable. They were probably much better maintained and flown by better pilots, but that’s another reason why is the best fighter aircraft of today. It is not just the airframe it is the whole system that makes it a winner.
I used the yugoslav mig-29s as a small example of what I meant regarding results and fact, to prove my point of me up to that date beleiving the fact that the mig-29 had no equal, I expected to see f-15s and f-16s falling out the sky like flies, they couldn’t even fire a shot, everything malfunctioned. I mean there’s a lot of other conflicts out there that f-15c scored victories, if you do little search, I believe the score is something like 100+ to 0. what else I can say?
I mean there will always be “ifs” and “buts”, but at the end of the day that’s what it comes to – result.
very good, I can start building models now according to the results:)
looks like I have to give priority to yf-23, already have one made, I do like it better than f-22 though.
thanks all again.
thanks all, yes thats what we are talking about looks:)
I build a lot of plastic models, and also have most of the jet aircraft, however my favorite ones I usualy have in any numbers of 5+.
I also make parts for real ones, that’s what I do for living.
best regards!
I think f-16’s or m2k, or if from eastern origin, than maybe mig29smt?
plenty of the above should be available second hand, I think.
“That’s a bit of a warped opinion of what looks good in fighter jets because the Hornet is one of the best looking jets there is bar none.”
ha-ha-ha lol, that’s way I said: “ugly”, and not: ugly.
I meant: not as cool looking as mig29 or f-15:)
Although I do not find the f-18 very “cool” that didn’t stop me from buying about 8 plastic kits of f-18a/c/d and the superhornet f-18e/f, go figure???!
only mig-21 and 29 I have bought more – 10+ each.
