Well, I was thinking with three variants of the F-35 coming and with all of the different options available. How would the members of the forum build there very own F-35? For example would you select P & W or GE Engines or how about the Big Wing vs Little Wing………….really alot of option to choose! What would you pick?

Here’s a list of some of the option to select from………(add your own if you want and feel free to include weapons)

    Type:
    STOVL
    CV (Naval)
    CTOL (Landbased)

    Engines:
    P & W F-135
    GE F-136

    Wing
    Smaller Landbased
    Larger Navalbased

    Landing Gear
    Landbased
    Navalbased

    GUN
    Internal Gun
    External Gun (Podded)
    No Gun

    Refueling System
    USAF Boom Type
    International Drogue Type
    Neither

    Weapons
    To many to list…….

    Good Luck!

hmmm the ultimate F-35……I’ll have the F-22:D !!!
Probably cost less, by the time I select all the options;)

As the name implies however Master CAM isn’t a CAD package it’s for defining cutting strategies and generating g-code.

Well, actualy Master-CAM is A CAD package as well – it is CAD-CAM system and is a lot more powerful than say AUTO-CAD, especialy when it comes to 3D, although not as powerful as CATIA or Unigraphics, when it comes to modeling etc, these two are really so powerful when it comes to modeling or design.

I use Mastercam every day and I’m very familiar with it. (let’s say that there’s not a part or shape out there that I haven’t been able to make):dev2:

Most of the files we receive for manufacturing the components have been created using CATIA or Unigraphics – exported to IGES files (universal format).

Mastercam opens these files as it has a translator for different file formats, than you can still change the files or add features or delete etc as needed for creating the toolpaths so you can actualy machine the components.

Many manufacturers do the same as we do, they use Mastercam for design and manufacture, and the more complex components (aircraft components) are designed elsewhere anyway, by using the more complex software as mentioned, they get the models / files already done, they can still be opened / modified with Mastercam and programs made for machining or otherwise.

Anyhow don’t want to get into too much specifics, unless someone specificaly wants to discuss or has interest in this area.
If that is the case, PM or e-mail would be the way to go. I can give specific examples of some of the projects I’ve been involved.

    LM

Yet, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have Military Applications………..

Absolutely correct, it does have military applications….many of the parts we are producing are designed with Catia or Unigraphics, however we do use Master-CAM to actualy make the programs and machine them.

CAF will make a final decision on a new fighter next year with the main candidates being the Falcon and the Grippen.
I would like to know what are your thoughts on the subject.
    Thanks

Well I’m sure that both are good options, however as already pointed out by other members, depends on the deal / package offered.

My personal prefference would be the JAS-39 Gripen as it is newer (sexier too) and potentialy would offer longer service life and could be cheaper to operate, although I would not be disapointed with an old time favorite the F-16 either.

But at the end, my prediction would be: the JAS-39 Gripen:D

    AFR. 15/12/06.
“Australia is to buy a squadron of 24 F-18F Super Hornet fighter aircraft in a surprise policy shift that will delay by a year the acquisition of the RAAF’s first squadron of advanced F 35 JSF aircraft.
The decision to acquire the Super Hornets, at a notional cost of $90 million each, follows increasing concerns over the safety of Australia’s ageing fleet of F-111 fighter bombers after 2010.
Defence Minister Brendon Nelson revealed last night that Australia was in discussions for the Super Hornet purchase with the US Government,

Well I for one I’m happy:) Any idea when are we going to get them – as in when can we expect to see the first batch?

    I like the superbug…

Any more info would be gratly appreciated, thanks.

I thought this thread was about Russian planes, I was looking forward to nice pictures and information, somehow it turned out to mine is bigger than yours.

If Admaril wishes to talk Chines planes, why doesn’t he start another thread of his own???

I’d sugests no-one reply to his pointless – waste of time posts and concentrate on some interesting info or photos of Russian Aircraft.

Man why are you thinking Russia only sells oil, that is quit false, Russia has areas where still is doing well and aerospace is one and it that where China is still far behind Russia , Russia is buiding Tu-204s, Engines for China, Su-33s, and many more equipment, you are over valorating China`s success, Russia is becoming a more complex country than you think, computers and software are also areas where russia is becoming better and you can see that in the avionics the Su-34 has here is a picture of the Su-34

here ais the cockpit of the Tu-204

    here is the Tu-334 cockpit

here is the cockpit of the Yak-42

as you can see Russia is not behind the west, Russia is just restructuring its technological and economical capabilities but undoutedly Russia is not a developing country they have technology and resources[/QUOTE]

Mig I’m not quite interested in the reply to that guy who keeps talking nonsense, but can’t help it but noticing the pictures that you are posting in every topic, like the ones above, just where do you get them from? I really like all the pictures you post, some that I can’t seem to find anywhere else.

Is there any chance you can forward me some links?

    Thanks

    What does this text say?

    prevlačenje, uništen eksplozivom na zemlji

it means somethink like – it was distroyed on the ground using explosives…..

although I’m not quite sure what exactly the first word means ” prevlačenje”, could be something like witdrawing or pulling back….

I can read cyrilic and understand a tiny bit of russian, in general I maybe able to understand what the sentence means, but not all the words exactly as such can probably get it wrong occassionaly.
In general I love Russian aircraft, but also love all aircraft in general, regardless German, French, US, English etc etc….just the Russian ones (SU, Mig) seem to have extra cool factor in them:D
