what facts? you say so – facts? mine is bigger than yours facts?

what fact are you reffering to above? -“And an F-16 engine? Guess that AL-31 isn’t as great as everybody says “

is this a fact? (it is just your opinion and you are entitled to it.)

no it is not a fact, but it is funny though, and Gary’s reply made me lough, and if you have a problem with that, well too bad:) – I’m entitled to my opinion.

I mean don’t get me wrong, Gary always supports russian made stuff, you always support US made stuff, and I choose to sometimes agree with Gary.
I do like the Russian stuff, although at same time I’m aware of the quality of US stuff and in general I never say it is no good, I just choose not to go argue on it’s behalf, instead supporting the argument that the russian stuff is good too, one of the reasons being that some people think that anything russian it can’t be any good.

I’d like to state the following in regards to russian vs western (us?) made:

    – in regards to design, aerodynamics, advanced ideas etc, russians are every bit as good if not sometimes better than the US or west in general.

    – in regards of built quality, fine tolerancing, finishing, electronics etc west has always been miles ahead of the Russian. In regards to the Russians the gap is slowly narrowing, not only they build advanced and capable aircraft, their quality is rapidly improving.

Anyhow, I do like all of the yanks cool aircraft, just like the russian sukhois and migs better:)

Uhm…its not THAT impressive, especially after seeing the Su-37 and Su-30MKI. I’ve seen an ordinary Su-30K do sequence 2. The extended period Cobra was the most impressive.

    This is better – http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=146;t=000670

I just saw that one too, it is good, but personaly like the mig better.

thanks for the videos guys and please keep them coming:)

About as intelligent as saying “Wow, China buys Su-30MKKs, the F-22 can’t be as good as everybody says…”.

LOL, ha, ha, ha good on you Gary, couldn’t have said it better myself!

As well as flying 4 channel Radio Control, I do also like to fly what could be described as “Kiddies Toys” Two Channel Electric Aircraft that have no moveable flying surfaces but can have it’s yaw altered by varying the speeds of the two engines and can have it’s altitude altered by applying full power to both engines (you know the sort – the ones you pick up from a catalogue for £50).

I even saw some being advertised in an Aeromodeller Magazine (Don’t ask which one though, I have that many 😀 )

But do these actually count as “PROPER” Radio Controlled Aircraft????

    What do you all think???????

    Mark 🙂

as long you have fun with it, of course it counts:)

my very first model was two channel too, although rudder and elevator rather than motor power.

well it’s good that the pilot’s ok.
my mate went fishing in the area for long weekend, he came back today to Melbourne and was just telling me he saw the carier and that it was the bigest thing he ever saw.
but he didn’t say anything about any crash, perhaps he was too far to see anything, or if it happened night time maybe? hmmm.

I think we should define a timeframe and a model for every plane at a similar date for comparison’s sake.

I pick the Phantom without a doubt… and it is NOT ugly!!!!!

    Nic

I too, pick the Phantom without a doubt… and it IS ugly!!!!!

big, mean and ugly, yeah the right stuff!:)

is there only one pick or on second thought I’ll put them in order of prefference:

    1. f4
    2. f1
    3. j-37 viggen
    4. mig-23

Is see myself as a pretty civilized poster. I don’t feel like losing temper here, my answers are always as polite as possible..

I’ll second that, I read here a lot more than I post, and I’ve seen flex and garyb being spoked to in “uncivilised” manner called names and all sorts of other things by numerous posters in various threads on more than a few occassions, and they don’t seem to loose temper and in general remain “civilised” and polite, whether I agree or disagree with what they are saying, I personaly can’t help it but to respect them.

I remember few months a go in a thread I argued against what they were saying, and all the responses were in very proffesional and polite manner, on the other hand I have been called an “idiot” and little kid etc, by some other people when they disagreed with what I was saying.

I’m sorry for being off topic, just thought that there wasn’t a reason to think that flex’s response was “uncivilised” or lost his temper.

    hey Ant Harrington,

I’ve just e-mailed you the article @ the e-mail address you’ve provided, they are jpegs, and should be pretty clear, if not I’ll save them as PDF’s, the only thing is, they might be too big to e-mail.

Let me know if it is all ok.

    best regards

Fine scale modeler magazine has done a review few months ago and there’s pics.
I’ve got the mag, but not sure if I’m allowed to scan the article and put it here, I can perhaps e-mail it to you?

As a newbie here I’m a bit hesitant in suggesting this, but how about a separate board dedicated to all aviation modelling topics, ie actual model-making (kits, scratch builds, radio-controlled, whatever) rumours and discussion of new releases, nostalgia for the good old days of Airfix and Frog, and kit collecting? I hardly ever get around to making anything nowadays, but I’m quite active collecting stuff on eBay. Any other nerds out there want to talk about Airfix packaging styles?

they are very old, basic and a lot of them toy like, compared to other kits.
However, if you are mainly looking for a bit of fun they are ok.
