RE: Pic of the Day – 21/01/02
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-01-02 AT 05:03 PM (GMT)]I would say that this pilot isn’t going anywhere – cos the N1 turbine speed shows the engines ain’t working, and the airspeed is 0, it is likely that he has used the airports local or owbn VOR as his last point for nav and then been vectored onto a Visual or SRA Apporach and not needed any nav aids, also a gud point is his gear is down (u can see 2 of the 3 greens on) and his alt is 0ft 🙂 – just my opinion!!

Princes Juliana if my memory seaves me rightly – u’ve nicked that piccy off airliners.net!!
RE: Ryanair in BRU
If the Low-fare airlines can expand and create jobs in the aviation industry who are we to complain at this time?? – Passenger loads will be the real proof!
RE: Are these pictures good or a first attempt?
I think we should start a new forums under the title – BM put those reggies on the cowlings rather than under them!!! – it’s the only airline i know that has done that and i hate it when spotting!!
RE: Which airline?
Hi there,
I’m in the same predicurement.
Firstly make sure u have a solid educational background – preferable 7-8 A*-C’s, plus A-Levels. Th UK airlines i have spoke 2 have told me that a degree may no longer be benificial to have. If u are in any youth organisations etc go for it. I am not ashamed to admit i’m a Junior Scout Leader and have got my Chief Scouts Challenge and am going for my Queens Scout. I am also a Community Sports Leader, and a qualified FA junior soccer coach – all these will look good in your CV.
At the moment many UK airlines have slowed their recrutement procidures, and in some cases cancelled them so my advice would be to write to all the UK based airlines (addy’s in Yellow Pages), and ask for an info pack to build a portfolio for yourself. A good work expereiance and referance is also a good idea.
RE: The National UK Airport Awards
Well i would say NM as my Local (Leeds/Bradford), but for the real heavy metal on a constant basis EGCC purely for it’s viewing facilities!!
Preston
RE: Whats happened to Ariana Afghan?
I don’t think the 727’s will be flying long – the US has put embargo’s on trade between the 2 countries and it wont be long before such a small fleet will need support.
RE: Belgian Pic Wanted!
Well if owned a 737 i’d make a lot more money selling it to Ryanair – it can’t be doing them 2 bad – i hear that last year they put out an advert for 40 737-3/4/500 varients – maybee some of these ex SABENA a/c may join the fleeet – i.e. OO-SYG!! – we’re these actually owned or leased?
RE: Fokker
Dutchy just out of interest how did the “new a/c” sell compared to the older versions – i.e. Fokker 50/60 – F27/FH227, Fokker F28 – 70/100 as they seemed to switch both lines at about the same time? – and also i believe that there is still a couple of Fokker subsideries operating as a Parts service centre and overhaul unit – could u please clarify this.
RE:
Hi all,
It has been used by many UK Charter airlines as a ad-hoc stby a/c. It has been noted all over the UK operating on behalf of mainly JMC and Monarch, as well as on it’s own ad-hoc charter flights (usually football related in EGNM’s case for LUFC). We followed this plane from EGCC TO LGIR, it set off 15 mins b4 us and when we arrived the pax were just disembarking!!!
RE: Ryanair brings christmas early!
Hi all,
I can confirm that Ryanair will be opening a new hub airport in the spring but it is still tba, and the a/c place an order a couple of months bak for 40 B737-3/4/500 a/c that are been retired early due to sept 11th to add to the 15 B737-8AS’s still on order.
RE: Fokker
Hi there,
When Fokker went down the pan it meant a great loss to regional airports like Leeds/Bradford (my local) as airlines struggled to find a/c with such capacity’s. The fokker range was a “filler” a/c range and this was a time before RJ’s we’re common. Embraer hadn’t brought the RJ135/40/45 range out yet, and Canadair hadn’t launched any other varients of the CRJ-200. The Fokker 70 and 100 we’re used extensivly in the mid-late 1990’s at NM with KLM UK operating the 50 and 100, British Midland the 70 and 100, and Aer Lingus with the nifty 50. This range of aircraft offered these local airports with an aircraft that was route specific and operated a fleet commonarilty and without these a/c Leeds wouldn’t have some of the routes operated today without this range of a/c
RE: MyTravel Airways
Hi all,
I have flown AIH on 7 occasions – 6 we’re IT charter flights (EGNM-LEPA-EGNM, EGCC-LEGC-EGCC, EGCC-LGIR-EGCC) and on a chartered enthusiats flight from EGNM-EGNM and we have never had a prob. All airlines have their good and bad points and if u want a good general perspective visit http://www.carsurvey.org/air
