RE: Airport picture of the day-Madiera

indeed the airport name isn’t santa cruz neither santa catarina…
Acording to this site http://www.anam.pt/AM.htm (whisch is the site of the company who runs the airport) the airport official name is Aeroporto da Madeira and, yes it is located in Santa cruz!

    thank you Benair360p

i’m not sure about the airtours but i think you’re right

the shorts 360 is (as saab said) of aerocondor. This airline has a code share agreement with tap to operate the route funchal-porto santo(+/-100km)

RE: Airport picture of the day-Madiera

    because i’m from portugal….

well, i just want to say that the name of the airport isn’t Santa Cruz, but Santa Catarina indeed!
    And just a little information:
The runaway was duplicated because it was too short and it ends in the see (about 1977 a tap air portugal plane fall in the sea) but now, and because the runaway has suffered a rotation of about 2 degrees; the airport is closed very often due to phenomens such as windshear. And of course these causes hard “damages” to the local economy (the airport is the main way of entrance in the island)

PS: sorry obout the poor english

    RE: Regional airlines

Only in the Summer, of course. But the in-flight service is very good. the only disadvantage is that in my opinion is that the number of flights is very high, and the fleet is not so big…They have a flight from MANCHESTER to Oporto and lisbon

    RE: Regional airlines

Hi, My local airport is OPO, and i was surprised because here no one had mentioned yet Portugalia airlines (PGA). In my opinion (and PGA was the only regional airliner i’ve ever flown)this is one of the best… They have a fleet of 6 Fokker 100 and 8 ERJ145 with an avarage age of 6.7 years. (I think they create a subsidiary called PGA Express which operates the route LIS-Malaga and LIS-La Corunha whith 2 Beechcraft 1900D)They have clean aircrafs, the crew is very efficient and nice, the service and the food is very good (For exemple in the busiest route: OPO-LIS (flight time:+/-45min) whith about 11 flights a day, while the national flag carrier TAP only serve a lousy snack, PGA offers a decent one. They use VISTA ALEGRE ceramics instead those plastic dishes,In the summer they serve Haagen Daz ice creams. The only problem i find is that the increased number of flights per day (about 100) and due to the small fleet they have, nowadays PGA flights are usually delayed. But fortunatly this doesn’t unable them to be considered the best south regional airliner. Joao Fontes
