Apparently the plant experts that have been to Uganda are horrified by the conditions for aircraft storage and service, untill then the worst was Venezuela.
Nothing wrong with facilities in Venezuela. They’re complaints were apparently about the crime rate…maybe they got mugged while they were there 🙂
….
According to Czech posters on other forums, the Slovaks have a couple of pairs of Mig-29’s left operational
My thinking is, it is just a start. I foresee the numbers at least doubling 2-3 years. They are just trying to induct slowly, manage the finances and also cause less panic!
There’s talk of 6 more but at this stage it’s just talk.
The Ugandans are also, AFAIK the only export customer for the Mi-24PN. Does anyone know how many they got back in 2004?
There’s speculation they are negotiating the purchase of another batch of PN’s

Yes The VVS will recieve the FM2, but i have yet to see any official new about any trial or certification on the FM2.
So it might not be ready yet.
But in time it will.:)Edit:
The first VVS assets that should recieve the FM2 would be the Su-34 in my opinion, since it suffer heavily from T/W ratio due to the weight..
The company just announced that the FM-2 development is finished which doesn’t mean it’s ready to be adopted by the Airforce. It would probably take a couple of years before the AF trials and preparations for serial production are finalised.
IMO some future batches of the Su-34 will get it and possibly the Su-27SM’s when they undergo a major overhaul.
Recent info from VPK Novosti which is sort of related to the discussion….

More pics of the “Pantsir-ME”
http://bmpd.livejournal.com/26082.html
Like ‘Snake’ wrote, the blog author says that this was a model with elements from Pantsir S1 and Kortik, part of the new project “Palica (or Palitsa)”. It’s Fire-Control system is based on the Pantsir-S1 and main improvement compared to it’s predecessors is meant to be the capability to engage 4 targets simultaneously
Modernized Kashtan, beefed up Palma or altogether new system?
