Well, this is all IMO ofc, but his statement regarding J-20 and PAK-FA and F-35 stealth levels seems to be complete hogwash based on nothing.
How do you know?
Dear lord he makes immense amounts of assumptions on a very uncertain topic.
He makes some assumptions which is inevitable at this stage, but to say “immense” is wrong IMO.
🙂
Great.
Now the size should be easier to estimate
Well real or not, thanks for keeping us updated.
Interesting development…
Indian company to build ships for Rosoboronexport
Indian private Pipavav Shipyard will be engaged in construction of ships under the order of Rosoboronexport, reports The Economic Times. Volume of first orders which would be possibly placed at the shipyard is evaluated as INR 80 bln ($1.8 bln). Presumably, the yard will start building of new ships in 2011.
Pipavav Shipyard signed a letter of understanding with Rosoboronexport on Dec 9, 2010 providing that the company will construct Russian-designed ships for third countries, reports India Infoline. Besides, the document also implies mid-term upgrade, overhaul, and remanufacturing of Indian Navy’s ships and submarines.
As reported by MoneyControl, the document provides license transfer for construction of four stealth frigates to Pipavav Shipyard. Three similar ships have been already built by Russia under India’s order. It was not specified what kind of frigates are meant. Russia’s Baltiysky Zavod shipyard built three Project 11356 frigates for India and has already delivered them to the orderer. Two analogous frigates are being completed by Yantar shipyard; the third ship was recently launched.
According to the World Arms Trade Analytic Center, cost of one stealth frigate built by Pipavav will make INR 80-90 bln, and the company will be workloaded for further ten years.
The Su-33 upgrade hasn’t got anything to do with the Mig-29K. It’s just a mid life upgrade.
The Kuznetsov was meant to have a mixed airwing of Yak-141s and Su-33s. The Mig-29s are meant to fill the role of the Yak-141.
Dozor-100 first flew in active service back during the Zapad-2009 war games with Belarus. No way was the first test flight just this week. It’s been in testing with elite units since at least 2009.
They’re probably talking about a modified variant. I think the Dozor-100 was originally called Dozor-5 and had a different tail.
With a relatively large wing span and its engine postion ‘Dozor-100’ seems to be inspired by Predator Drone
It’s larger brother the Dozor-600 looks more like the Predator

I remember reading Rafale and the latest IN Mig-29K having gold coated cockpit.
Some SU-27s have it as well. I think it’s part of a program that started back a few years ago. There is a video about the plant that makes them somewhere (don’t have it at hand at the moment).
China has not actually exported any Flanker rip-offs, unfortunately for the legions cackling over how Russia got screwed over.
People prefer to believe bombastic media BS that support their preconceived notions. The Russian media is plenty guilty of that as well. While it’s true that there are some commercial conflicts between them, Russia-China state to state relations are actually pretty good.
Well, the 4 channels per face come from the fact that each face consists of 4 modules. Keeping in mind, that 9M96 is active radar missile, only midcourse updates are required. Therefore, the number of channels is quite conserative.
Vityaz SAM is considered to be the land based counterpart of Redut/Poliment. You can have a look at it’s export version – South Korean KM-SAM, Almaz-Antey has delivered three units by now.
I attach pictures of elements of 42Ya6 APAR for Morfey short-range SAM which is under development by Almaz-Antey as part of S-500 system. This gives quite good appreciation of components used in Poliment as well.
Thanks.
That dome shaped radar is pretty interesting. It would truly have 360 deg coverage.
Yes, but apart from flag waving and perhaps anti-piracy, what tasks is it going to undertake on its own in these distant oceans?
There’s enough space there to arm it with all sorts of weaponry. In theory it could carry a large number of Ship – Ship/Ground/Air missiles

What are those twin-boom prop planes in front of the PAK-FA in Pesho’s post above?

Members Fedaykin and avionesq are correct in putting out their skeptisisms on the J-20 and its existence. But since there is in fact a program current at Chengdu (No. 611) for the aircraft, its more than just mere rumor of “a couple of fans” – It is a real program……
Thanks for sharing (pics as well). It’s definitely interesting stuff.
