Whats good about AK-630M-2 gun over current AK-630M , does it have closed loop firecontrol system that the AK-630M currently lacks ?

The obvious difference is that it has twice the rate of fire (10 000 rds/min) and a RAM coated casing. It also seems to have a wireless/digital control system. If I understand correctly the FCS depends on the ship it’s mounted on.

The best way to destroy any aircraft is still while it sits on the ground.

F-22 vs. F-35vs. Su-xx vs. What potential enemies are we talking about? Besides the strategic nuclear armed states (which are too dangerous to pick a fight with) there is no-one on this planet that can withstand an U.S. attack, even if the USAF would be flying P-51 with AIM-9 only. The vast majority of “bad guys” don’t even have enough BVR missiles to keep up the fight more two or three days.

This one-on-one masturbations are really pointless. During its service life the F-35 will fly as part of a much higher networked and automated warfighting machine than anyone else is able to put up and keep up, and it doesn’t matter if the other side has Su-7 or Su-35. The challenges are not of tactical or operational nature, a few lost F-35 because the other side gets lucky sometimes don’t matter ****.

    That’s true to a point.

The “bad guys” (the ones with enough cash) can at least make themselves look scary enough and make the “good guys” think twice if the price might seem to be too steep…..sort of like the return not matching the investment.

That said there is a lot wanking going on here

    P.S.: We need a “Space” sub-forum here!

    Good idea.

I’m not sure what thread fit best for what i’m posting now.

Its a very nice article about:
    “The Foxhound in operational Service”
by Combat Aircraft Monthly september edition 2010.
    Written By Stefan Buttner.

Interesting stuff….I might buy the magazine.

You should probably re-post it in the Russian Aviation news thread. There’s some posts on the MiG-31 there already.

    Oook..
Are you two done squabbling yet.

The battle is still in progress….

Thank you! I was worried that the PAK-FA would have no IR reduction measures but this clearly isn’t the case. Does the AL-31F on the Su-30 variants also have ceramic lining?

I don’t think so but maybe Quadro-FX can tell us more about it.

    Here’s a few comparisons between the T-50 and F-22….I won’t bother with the F-35 (it’s self evident)

    T-50 & MiG-1.44 (including S-ducts) comparison…..I wonder why the T-50 is so much sleeker 🙂

It doesn’t say what type of bomb it is.

One of the selling points is that the upgrade enables the use of dumb bombs with greater accuracy – approaching the level of PGMs it’s claimed.

As far as I understand it, other selling points seem to be more automated functions, less man intensive maintenance, quicker preparation for a mission, better navigation equipment, wider range of weapons and so on.

    ……..

Came across a picture of one of the early T-6 prototypes so I guess this is the most appropriate place to post it…

Ceramic RAM on AL-41F engine nozzle….

    Thanks for posting.

I hadn’t noticed that until I saw it on your forum.

Especially interesting to see it not just on the T-50

One more part of the brochure for MK upgrade where an attack maneuver is described: lobbing a bomb at a target while avoiding the kill zone of various air-defences (Roland-2, Manpads and SPAAGs)

Is there any news about the flight tests of the T-50 suspended or is it going on?

It’s going on according to info on Russian forums based on spotters reports….the latest reports are about yesterday and today.

Not via Syria as long as the Iraq and Turkey control the transit routes. Leaving aside the US-forces and sensors in that area. Of cause non can prevent the Iran shipping Su-24s to Syria as long as Syria is willing to bear the political impact from that. 😎

The US wouldn’t be happy about it but can’t really stop 2 countries from exercising together in peacetime.

Hezbollah gets their supplies via Syria which is a much more serious issue from a US perspective.

In that area Syrian, Libyen and Algerian examples were spotted only. Iran has not even a free arial access to the Mediterranean. 😉

It has access via Syria. Also it’s not impossible for Turkey to allow access.

Sorry but a recent publication or old?
Graphically it is horrible, say 15 years old…….

I can’t remember exactly but I think I got it from a pdf document a few years ago.

There’s more parts to it but in Russian only.
