    good point.

is there any more possible evidence so far that they deployed any s300s at all though?

No, not so far. That picture is from a dubious source and could be a fake (probably is)

6 have entered service. They’re planning to raise that number to 20 in the next few years according to a report I read recently. Possibly more later depending on developments with their future bomber project.

The deal for the airbase use is expected to be signed during the Cypriot president visit to Moscow later this year. Cyprus will get to restructure it’s loan and I think it’s basically a done deal. The airbase use is part of the provisions for air support of the newly established Mediterranean naval squadron. I think it’s wishful thinking to say it was formed to just to evacuate Russians from Syria. Taking into account the situation on the ground, I think your Wahabi friends are doomed short of a large scale foreign intervention, therefore little need for any evacuation.

It’s not completely impossible but very unlikely that Russia would deploy it’s air force over Syria. The only scenario I could think of is if it’s personnel were being directly involved in the fighting.

The following is from Debka so not exactly the most reliable source…

He spoke the day after the announcement that two warships carrying 600 Russian marines were heading for Syria “to protect the Russian citizens there” along with air force cover as needed.

Moscow announced Wednesday June 19, the dispatch to Syria of two warships carrying 600 Russian marines. They were coming, said the official statement, “to protect the Russian citizens there.” Russian Deputy Air Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Gradusov added that an air force umbrella would be provided the Russian expeditionary force if needed.

I doubt they’re even operational to any great degree. Also several air defence bases have been overrun by rebels and others are under siege. Crews have also defected/deserted (including an entire air defence batallion in one instance)

Syrian Air Defence system is now full of holes.

And it was pretty pathetic to begin with – looking at Israeli’s defeating it in 1982 and then effectively disabling it via EW in 2007’s Operation Orchard.

I doubt it’s degraded by much otherwise they wouldn’t be avoiding Syrian airspace as most reports suggest and lobbing bombs from inside Lebanon.

Israel (and it’s allies) is trying to help it’s proxies inside Syria as they have been hammered pretty hard lately. Some analysts believe this the beginning of the end (for the FSA).

Unfortunately Burritos did not exist during the Mayan period….

They must have thanked the gods for being spared the tons of diarrhea we have to endure. All for nothing though – This round goes to Asakura πŸ˜‰

Speaking of which, I think it’s time for another one of your BS “New” Syrian AF threads….it’s been a few weeks since the last one and the word on youtube is that another final rebel offensive is imminent

Anyway , before i forget or it gets lost , for you more knowledgeable folks , here’s some patents relating to PAK-FA, from paralay. In particular , the engine IR masking one is intriguing , but more on that later.

no point in dwelling on supposed missed opportunities that ignore the realities of the time.

    Spot on.

    The Su-35 for China

The Su-35 for China controversy isn’t going away. There is a new report out about ongoing negotiations. Apparently a MOU has been signed and both sides are working on a firm contract. The number mentioned is at least 40 x Su-35’s

All Russian military producers do not work under the rules of a free economy really.

And your companies work under the rules of a “free” economy?? πŸ˜€

Who exactly are you kidding. I trade futures part time and take my word for it, the official economic statistics of western economies are not worth the paper they’re written on. It’s all smoke and mirrors and basically one giant ponzi scheme. Try trading using rational economic principles and figures and see how far you get…you’ll be broke within a month.

Russia has a pretty good macro-economic environment and great potential if they play their cards right.

    ….

The Su-34 and the Su-30 are essentially different class of aircraft despite their common origins. The closest western equivalent to the Su-34 was the F-111 not the F-15 or Eurofighter

China has the biggest potential, especially when looking at it’s domestic market….it doesn’t really need big export orders to develop unlike the others
