Anybody knows which VMF ship arrived to Corfu, Greece, this weekend?

I’ve been here for a couple of days, but didn’t have time to approach the ship and see it’s name. Anyway, they had naval band and choir performing at Liston tonight alongside the Russian Marines.

It’s an amphibious ship and don’t know which class (Alligator, Ropucha, Ivan Rogov)… wasn’t able to distinguish from distance.

It should be the Caesar Kunikov (BDK-64)…

It’s not just money. Their aviation industry is definately one of the most dynamic in the world.

Having stable access the Chinese market is nothing to sneaze at either (too put it mildly).

The little nationalist flame wars here don’t correspond to the real world

Not sure if this has been confirmed but would be quite a development if true…

There is speculation that there are nuclear tipped R-33 missiles for the Mig-31, intended to take out several bombers at once.

Kramer had posted something related to it in the Indian Navy discussion…..

    Thanks

where did you get that from? …. Aleksey already is having one on that.

It was posted on a Russian blog, but Aleksey might be the original source

Maybe because the MiGs never flew into Pakistan. I wonder why?

Aggressive approaches on strike aircraft were reported but backing off when Mig-29’s appeared.

On a couple of occassions Mig-29’s achieved missile locks on F-16’s after which the F-16’s disengaged and pulled back..

    For example ?

for example, the maximum range of A-A missiles is reduced on export models

There’s definitely differences between export and domestic aircraft armament

Re: Mig-29 vs F-16 discussion…looks like some Indian “experts” here don’t even know their own history.

Pakistani F-16A did not (refused to) engage Indian Mig-29A during the 1999 conflict. I wonder why?…. considering they were of the same generation.

I generally agree when this subject comes up but Teer is a respectable poster, not accusing me of anti-Indian nationalism when the Arjun topic comes up. 😀

It wasn’t really aimed at ‘Teer’. I enjoy reading his posts.

He is very knowledgeable on aircraft topics but I have my differences with him on the tank issue.

Maneuvarability won’t matter for much in future air combat. Its a nice addition the TVC like climate control in a car.

    Are you serious ?
