My two engine mounting rings have gone to my local very friendly fabricator to be straightened and mated together. These crashed parts certainly give me some headaches. Does any one know where I can get a set of anti vibration rubbers that the engine mounted on? heres the ring I have and the rubbers go between the tubular pipe and the flat section ring and they have studs bonded in on either side .
theres a mag been relisted and its the same one as before.!
Another well wrapped present arrived this morning a genuine mounting ring that the engine mounts on to the aircraft nacelle its rough but repairable so now the fabrication of a trailer and complete mounting frame starts. (As if I havent enough to do) And ive also had a lead on a rotol prop that is metal as it seems a shame to cut my wooden one down im just going to keep wooden one for display purposes Ie fit to the engine if its not going to be run at a show.
No posts for a while as Ive been busy doing other things but im back on with the cheetah now and am looking for some more parts if anyone can help I am after a pair of useable magneto drives and a prop hub for a mark 9 as i have one and its for a mark 8 I am also looking for a Pressed steel oil trough that sits on the baffle plate that supports rear main bearing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im on a dead line to get the engine reassembled now for a local show in may To show the lister D owners what a real engines like:)Dont reckon im going to make that dead line now

All the pistons are removed now and the rings are freed up only two compression ring breakages but every oil ring was either chipped or broken and some of the gudgeon pin retaining circlips are missing. The crank turns freely now as well but the front cover will not budge more than 5mm and ive stripped off everything as per the manual. Ive bent my puller trying to get it off. so as I dont want to do any damage im just going to bolt it back on and give it a good wash through with steam and gunk, to get rid of all the inhibitor then its on with some more blasting and painting and slowly start the reassembly I hope unless more problems rear their ugly heads. Any leads on parts would still be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the link I had a look but its for a four cylinder engine and looks a lot smaller than my mag. Not much happening with my restoration at the mo as family to visit and to much sitting down talking I cant even sneak away to my shed for an hour:(
merry christmas every one and thankyou all who have helped with my restoration
Hi there ive seen it he is restoring one as well and I have been in contact maybe some bits may change hands thank you for that. The restoration is still on going im just cleaning and blasting parts at the moment ready for painting its starting to look good.
Had one email back saying that he had all the parts I needed then silence no more comunication at all another waste of time
More bits have arrived today thanks to a fellow cheetah rebuilder! Three very good condition cylinders some very tidy push rod tubes and exhaust deflectors and gaskets in their original box and a avro anson rev counter (from that auction site) just need two mag drives now and a rear main bearing but will probably need more spares soon……
Its a shame that the film companys cannot get the vehicles right in a lot of these films with the amount of preserved military vehicles in the uk alone it wouldnt be a problem. Another film thats got the wrong vehicles is ice cold in alex with bedford r series and series one and two landrovers none of these vehicles were about until at least 1948. To a military vehicle collector like myself its akin to using a stealth bomber in a remake of the dam busters.
Ok thankyou.
The latest problem is the two magneto drives are corroded beyond repair. The next problem I have come across is that the rear main bearing seems to be unobtainable so may have to get my original sleeved reground and new rollers. Its all good fun this engine rebuilding game.
The type is co 216 rotation clockwise on starter
