The aircraft in John’s photo did ground loop I think after a failure of one u/c leg . However it was repaired at Omaka and sadly , left NZ for the States not so long ago .

There used to be a couple of Jetstreams which seemed to be being used for spares recovery at Nelson airport . The aircraft were part of the failed Origin airline . Not sure if they were of the correct mark but might be worth an enquiry .

My despair of the general media only ever increases. Do the journalists who write pieces such as these state matters as fact in the genuine belief that they are correct and in a belief so strongly held that they believe that they have no need to check their ‘facts’? Or is it that they are lazy and inefficient and simply don’t care whether their ‘facts’ are correct or incorrect? Or is it that the general media puts significant time and effort into recruiting as journalists those who are intellectually challenged and can be guaranteed to produce consistently bad copy? Or is it all of these, the journalists resting safe in the knowledge that they are not alone – for the general public don’t know and, probably, don’t care whether what they are reading is factually correct or not. And in all probability, they don’t generally get beyond looking at the pictures.

Not sure we can blame journalists , genuine journalists are probably considered too expensive an item for much of today’s media , much cheaper to have an anybody who can write run something up , and once it is on the Net others simply copy it .

DaveF86, the RNZAF sometimes resprayed interiors of their aircraft after they began to wear, in NZ made approximations of British paints. Not sure if this is original paint or a wartime NZ respray colour.

Ohope – that is the Blackburn Baffin project.

Thank you Dave , another interesting aircraft being brought back from near extinction , good news .

It has been discussed before , live might be tad over the top , it was still filled with explosives but it was not armed and it sat beside a Tall Boy in similar condition I believe .

In the second youtube about the restoration of the MkV , the problem of the propellers is mentioned and I think he says he has a four blader of correct rotation , but does not know what it came from . They also say that most of the Tempest Mk 11’s come from India and that they scrapped most of their props at the end of the operational life of the airframes .

Runway and Smith. Thank you for drawing my attention to the fact that I had not considered that some of the”guests ” would be forumites who had not signed in. A valid point.

However, my point, which I thought was clear, but obviously not was that NON forumites who had views similar to those being expressed in the media comments section have not come on here to argue their point of view. The observation was not aimed at any forumites logged in or not and as your post make clear you do not hold views that are not broadly in agreement with what appears to be the consensus of opinion on this thread.
I apologise if I have unintentionally offended any body.

The majority of people only view and never participate , I believe the figure is up around 80%
