Lanc colours
You know what? I think a coastal command scheme on the lanc is long overdue, its about time the long forgotten and overlooked command got a look in! Just imagine how different she would look, almost an entirely new look, might raise a few eyebrows on her first show of the season! yeh lets push for the grey scheme.:)
just seen overhead….
2 x buccaneers very low level! earsplitting noise. Yeh well were all allowed to dream arent we?:diablo:
Raymond Baxter
I watched this last night for the first time ever, And ill be watching it again! It was brilliant! Those were the days when we had an Air force, and R.Bs narrative took me back to those holiday air and Farnborough shows which were on TV when i was young. What is also good is that R.B was ex RAF which is much sweeter than Fern Brittain or some ex B.A capt twittering on! Yep thoroughly captivating, whilst on the subject some time back in the early/mid eighties the RAF buzzed Bridgnorth in shropshire all day low level with Phantoms and Buccs, and i eagerly watched from the riverbank with a picnic and my ma and pa. any idea what that operation was called or why Bridgnorth was chosen?
what a thoroughbred!
And to be honest, I quite like it in its ‘natural’ state a sort of Rat look! well done, nice to see another ‘ex pat’ in the skies!
Surviving 748s
There was a 748 over by the grass lamellas at Cosford for a long long time, what became of that? infact there may have been two over there at one time.
Large prop!
Any fool knows that those props fold back when landing so no problem!
G-APSA
well it definately sounds better than being turned into a wine bar/disco which the waitress on G-SIXC told me was happening to her only a fortnight ago!
Tattoos
for my fortieth i had a Shackleton mk11 tattooed on my ankle, now, i often wonder why?
Lancaster hatches
Looking at the above photos has reminded me of something ive been pondering on for a while, Those two hatches in the upper fuselage, are they always open? is it not damned draughty/noisy and if the heavens open do they pop them back into place, also why fly with them off, quick access in case of emergency? or am i a dim wit? answers on a postcard please!
Dak pleasure flights
I find the above really difficult to believe, what with Classis Flight, Aces High, and that South Coast Airways operation all running Daks on a Commercial basis, ie No bungs from the MOD and certainly no heritage lottery money being bestowed upon them. why didnt they put up the necessary applications, or is there just not enough profit to be made from taking a coach load of enthusiasts on a twenty minute figure of eight these days? I feel there must be more to this than we think, despite my disappointment with Mr Collett and his band of merry men of late he does have a good head for business and if it had just been down to filing an application it would surely have been done? If memory serves me correct wasnt it something to do with the weight of the Daks bringing them under the same regs as say a 350 seater long haul?
Pleasure flight Daks
If im correct you will struggle like hell to gain permission to carry fare paying passengers in a Dak in the uk, classic flight at coventry had to call it a day to such things because it was unviable to install the necessary equipment that the CAA insisted on to be carried out, Bulletproof cockpit bulkheads and Emergency escape chutes were to be fitted if im correct?
Iron Eagle
Actually Iron Eagle 1 was quite a watchable movie.
