There must be similar airframes that have made similar ferry flights in recent years, wheels down, low G flights ? there’s something in the back of my mind that I read recently but I cant get it to come round to the front!, Once airborne the a/c would be over open countryside for the bulk of the trip, sometimes just sometimes this country needs to grab the bull by the horns and do these things, Of course you’ll need a pilot who is willing to do these things!! what’s Protheroe doing these days, I hear he’s not doing much with the Victor at Brunty anymore?
‘The aircraft would need to made ready for a one off A to B ferry flight which would involve some work and cost, elsewhere in the world this would not be a issue, unfortunatly the aircraft is in the UK’
Really ? Which countries can you think of that are going to allow you to fly a bomber aircraft that hasn’t flown for thirty two years ? Are you expecting that its just needs a quick BF and fly it? Its completely bonkers .
how long had ”Hawg Wild” been grounded before flying to the UK?
For once Moggy we agree on something, I may be a fool, but if i’m confronted by anyone I put my my head down and I fight, its what made us Brits great! before we were diluted !

Perhaps we can bolt a section onto the end of the Cold war Museum?, it certainly looks feasible. why a Shack never ended up in there in the first place beggars belief! in my opinion there are a number of exhibits in there which rarely gain more than a cursory glance anyway, re-locate some of those and make room for something which served this country for more years than was ever envisaged. failing that I suppose it might look nice sat opposite ”558” until that little venture goes t##s up!
Until just 18 months ago I lived on the site of that scrap yard at ketley Bank, it was developed by Jennings Homes in the late 90’s and is now covered in Houses, but I remember being off work with glandular fever and watching some long forgotten daytime TV program when a low loader went past my window with the remnants of a large wooden three bladed propeller , a very corroded wing which I was almost certain was Tempest/fury including a skeletal rudder and tailplane assembly and a lot of other sizeable aircraft structure, and even though I felt like death warmed up I put my boots on to go and chat to the site foreman who I had built quite a rapport with, very handy when you require further slabs, cement etc and he told me it had all been dug out the previous week or so, Jennings had apparently spoken to the RAFM at Cosford and they’d shown little or no interest in the cache. and the lot was being taken for scrap by a staffs based company, I trawled the area on numerous dog walks for weeks after and did indeed find a few small fragments of what might have been Aircraft bits, but nothing as mouth watering as id seen on that truck one afternoon in February.
Are you sure that’s not just the prototype T-28!:highly_amused:-
EXcellent, BTW
It will be a Medevac, not a Casevac, A Casevac is from a battlefied, a Medevac is from one place to another point of treatment.
He will be giving the prop a good bootful to get it off the splines.
Does it really matter?? the photos are fanatastic! I hope you find more!
I think its a Bedford, I had one her at the garage until about 1988 and I was approached by an enthusiast who couldn’t wait to part with his cash! ended up selling him the Austin gipsy that had lain around for forty years as well! I think he was from the Cambs area, is this the one? the small windows above the door windows were an odd characteristic.

EE Lightnings! in fact Hunters look pretty good in 2 seater guise as well.
,
the next time her tyres leave terra firma they will very likely be on the back of a low loader!
[QUOTE=Moggy C;2266466]I am more disappointed by ‘might of’.
How about that band of people who use the word nothink instead of nothing? , and whilst on the subject of grammar or mispronunciation did anyone hear Adele on Chris Evan’s show this morning?]
Have we forgot the DC6 that’s at Coventry?, no not the diner, G-APSA, she’s very recoverable, she’s big, ok, Not British, but its a lovely aircraft and it could carry fare paying pax as well? why don’t we look at getting that old lady back in the fluffy stuff?
[QUOTE=Lincoln 7;2255059]I have no doubts in you Moggs, that YOU could find all these fit young men jobs?. When all those young men are let in here, the flood gates will realy open, as they will be able to bring their wives, kids, uncles, aunts, and Uncle Tom Cobly as well in.
And who, exactly is going to foot the bill for these folks until, repeat, UNTIL they get a job here, bearing in mind most don’t speak English for a start.
If I.S. is letting members come to this Country under the Guise of legal/illegals, how many bombs and deaths will have to take place before someone realises, it’s the biggest bo***ck we have ever dropped, cus once they are in, there just aint no way we could send them back, y’know, human rights and all that jazz.
Jim
I am with you all the way on this one!
