Cool , i thought about it as something to do for a while for after i leave college , although my height got in the way.
im 6″2 so im very close to the maximum height, i work on and around aircraft on a daily basis and i don’t have any problems on the aircraft except walcking into the top of the door frame, (Damn that hurts).
have you not tryed Monarch?, they fly quite large Airbuses don’t they have more headromm lol
the A310 that comes into NCL to do the sanford flight is friggin huge it barely fits the stand, i think its the biggest aircraft that comes into NCL other than the 767 (seen once in the last 3 months, or the 747 (landed couple of times, but not seen by me :@)
1 what are your system specs
2 what display setting are you running in game?
3 run it in window mode, i found it runs slightly better
damn them shots look sweet funny looking thing that jet like :D, you seem rather close to that airliner lol
Finally, this post should be pulled, even though its genuiness was obvious, it just has no place in a forum belonging to a publishing company with the reputation and stature as Key Publishing.
No offence taken, but i find the replies to this post have relaxed my fealings baou the subject and i have considered my options and decided to put the application in, (just waiting till tommorow to confirm one last reference), without this post i don’t think i would have considered submitting an application.
so i thank everyone who has contributed to this post.
i think what ill do is wait till October and see where my current job goes as it is a seasonal job with possibilities of being kept on, i think if i get kept on or not ill send an application to easyJet see where it gets me, i don’t think im in the position to send one of yet with me still in the middle of my contract at NCL and i like the people i work with at the moment and i wouldnt wan’t to leave them in the busy period and leave them with the extra workload as i know what its like at the moment.
But i think i will deffinatly send the application of in September/October, there’s no harm in trying.
You gotta look on the brightside buddy ! 😀
AHH thats a very good point you have there 😉
although most the easyJet cabin crew based at NCL are getting on a bit.
Should this be of concern to someone considering cabin crewing as a potential occupation? That’s very much a personal question you need to answer for yourself.
it’s hard for me to explain my feelings on this subject, im not so much concerned about others opinions about me, as im mature enough to not give 2 hoots about other peoples opinion on me, its their opinion their entitled to it.
its more a family thing, i feel i would be ridiculed by certain family members.
unfortunaly there is a no Airside Photo’s from staff rule at NCL in enforcement this year apparently 🙁
Hey. I am a student in college who wanted to do the same as that except I’m looking for commercial flying. Two years ago I paid to do a course to become a Personal Trainer. It cost me 1,500 euro and took me 6 months of evening and weekend classes. Now, while still in college, I charge 90 euro an hour and I have ten clients a week who I work with in the mornings, evenings and weekends for one hour per week. Clients stay with me for 10 weeks and if they feel they need more they are welcome to stay. I could have more but my finals are here and I want to do well. The expenses are minimal. Insurance is 200euro for the year and I paid 500 for equipment, but this is up to you.
What i’m trying to say is invest a little in yourself and you can have great returns!
yeah i don’t want to go commercial purely because i wouldnt be happy sitting in the seat of a 737 or anything else, i purely want a license that will allow me to take out a single prop for an hour a month so i can enjoy myself, some sights etc, maybe later in life when i can afford it i would invest on moving on to multi engine, but that would be as far as i would go i think.
ohh i could also fly to work, im sure there would be plenty of parking spaces for a small motorglider at NCL 😎
i understand you point of waiting till the right time, but i don’t want to leave it too late to the point it starts to cost me more, so i think i need to start in the next 2 years, if i start in the next year i will save £120 just inmembership to YGC.
looking at my monthly income and my outgoings i think i should safely be able to afford 2 lessons a month at least if not 4, because of the distance between where i live and the gliding club i think i would have to spend 2 hours at least per lesson as its just shy of 50 miles travel to the club.
so if i was to fly 4 hours a month it means i will reach the minimum within 8 months so i could potentialy have a license in 12 months thats with me flying more than the minimum which i think i will need as my landing was always a thing i used to struggle with, as i always used to Ballon them, it wasent untill aout 45 minutes before i went solo that i got them right
yes i have tried gliding i used to be in the Air Cadets and did a Gliding Scholarship in the Grob109b MotorGlider i made 7 Hours in the Aircraft which is my main reason for wanting to learn in the Grob109b, as i feel i would have more freedom if i hold an NPPL than sticking to gliding, what i think i need to do is get rid of some of my bills, im intending to paying off my Laptop within the next few months which is £30 a month i save then pay my phone of which is another £30 a month im saving so ive already gained an extra hour each month.
as for the job its a new job so ive got plenty of room for improvement within the airport, so ill have to see what i can scrap up.
i found the cheapest and easiest way to learn to fly is to start with your NPPL license, in a Grob 109B Motorglider, it cost at YGC only £1920 to rent the aircraft for the minimum requirement of 32 hours 10 of which have to be solo, then you need to add about £160 for membership, then the £135 for the issuing of the NPPL License, then your exams which i don’t know a price for. but all in all it costs less than 1/2 as much as it would cost me to learn in a Cessna at my local airport Newcastle Intl
exams you need to sit:
Aviation Law
Navigation and Radio Aids
Meteorology
Aircraft General and Principles of Flight
Human Performance and Limitations
Flight Performance and Planning
Communications (written & practical)
and Practical Exams:
NST (Navigational Skills Test)
GST (General Skills Test)
The restrictions on the NPPL are:
Can only fly UK Registered aircraft
can only fly within the UK not including the channel islands
Can’t add ratings such as night and instrument.
so in total its gonna cost you about £4000-£4500 estimate, as far as i know once you fly past the 45 hours requirement for your PPL you can simply do the extra exams if there are any to change your license.
its a cheaper alternative which im trying to find the time and the funds to do myself.
Nice work dude 1 tip though put a compass with the bearis on makes it easier to get headings right 😀
ohh im hooked btw
