A330-300,thats one of the best iconic images in recent years an image that motivated thousands to act ,a better example than the ones that the advertising people like to use and claim as an iconic image ,father Christmas for coca cola for example has become an image that all children see as Santa.

I think an iconic image is something that stirs emotion or a gut reaction, like the execution of a viet cong prisoner in the street by Gen nguyen ngoc loan,or abu ghraib prison images,they are designed to shock, but on the other hand, Andy warholes Marilyn monroe or a tin of campbells soup are there just as iconic images in their own right,as for that “relatively unknown footballer”
hes a man who didnt die in combat. but died none the less, leaving whether you like it or not an iconic image behind.

I think some of the vietnam photos from the 60s & 70s can be some of the most iconic images for anti war ive ever seen.
