Im sorry Andrew but i agree for once with the judge, there are too many people in our prisons who could be rehabilitated in the comunity.Drug offenders do want to go to prison for the excellent rehabilitation programs they offer, ones they have to go on a waiting list on the outside, and you have to remember that prison life to some people is far better than their life outside. The problem lies in funding for such programs outside of your run of the mill prisons.Dont think for a second I’m a namby pamby type who thinks prisons should be holiday camps. It needs fresh ideas for what to do with and how to deal with offenders.Boot camps, schools were they have to attend or even may i dare to say build more prisons of varying catagorys.May be other people have ideas.
Im truly sorry you have been a victim of crime it changes your view of the scum dosent it,but in my case they had a drug problem which didnt go any were near explaining away what they did to us,but talking to an ex drug addict very recently it did help in understanding what drove them.
