IT depends if you read Dan brown or not, the question of the church altering facts to suit their doctrine sounds like it could be the biggest hoax going, especially to the christian faith.

Not just the take off, as most of the transmissions from the space craft to the cape would have been picked up anywhere on earth ,so the full mission would be there in full audio for the Russian space agency to pick apart as they wanted.
remember apollo1.Space flight has risks, the USA has been very fortunate in that respect ,the Soviets lost a fare few cosmonaut’s in the early days.
Look at it this way if you have a good rocket it will fail once in every one hundred times
the current rate is 112, failed twice not good for commercial usage but not bad for something that’s shot into space at x thousand miles an hour incurring massive temperature and pressure changes.
