I too like gray area got a bit too close for comfort to an attack albeit not a solder but a police officers in uniform in 92.
So my views i stick by. Our people in uniform do a tough enough job as it is with out the added pressure of being on public show because that’s what it is ,a show.

That would be no more at risk than if they were not in uniform.

Agreed in a planned attack ,may be not in a unplanned one.

Its still a raw memory for alot of folks the attacks on service personnel, who were not on the front line at the time and may be god forbid ,its only a matter of time that it happens again.
May be its not down town baghdad and i agree the risk is low but still a risk none the less for our uniformed personnel.

I think i would be nice that service personnel could walk freely around in uniform outside of their respective camps.
But as a security risk that a large target of uniformed personnel ,gathered in one place would present ,surely out weigh everything else.

Pete, Hes probably under your shed because its dry ,warm and close to a constant food supply. If you remove one of these elements he will most probably move on,so check the shed see if hes feasting on something you have in there ,or may be hes getting in the bins. The wheelie bin type, ive seen rats easley lifting the lid feeding and getting out, unlike the old metal lids which were a bit too heavy for them.
Like you I’m not keen on poison, especialy so close to the countryside. so if hes not causing any damage and too close to the house ,then live and let live. But they do sent mark all the time, and rat urine can be a problem on the old health front, especialy to the kids.
On the other hand i have a 12 bore, but i does play havoc with the old shed walls….:diablo:
