An aeroplane is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it….
I think 1.75GBP is a bit steep, especially when you consider there are several P-51s and a much more desirable P-47 available on the Courtesy Aircraft site which havent sold, all similar amounts but in US $.
Shame to see it go, but as Y11F said, it ain’t sold yet..
why the hell do they insist on fitting those bloody underwing tanks
A) because they can, and
B) Cos it makes it go further
Unfortunately it is now difficult to get authorisation for display flying at North Weald due to airspace restrictions.
Is it? It’s news to me:rolleyes: Does this mean that the CAA Exemption for display practice is now no longer available?
I have always vowed when (if?) i ever won the euro milions to buy a rare warbird and paint it lime green with pink spots……:D
It won’t be flying either day…..
SeaFuryFan,
The Turb you saw crash was G-ATKR, crashed at Shoreham 10th August 1975. I know the pilot and he’s still with us if its the same accident.
Would anyone happen to know who was flying MJ627?
Don Sigournay
ANGPHO,
Well that’s alright then. I’ll await with interest the regular Spitfire activity at EGKH. 😀
So, did any spitfire flying take place then?
No, on one of the best weather days this year (Thursday), no Spitfire operated from Headcorn. I am led to believe the punter turned up but nobody from this company was there to host him. Oops!
For all those who pay up front for this or any aviation activity, “Caveat Emptor”…….
Why can the Canadian Lancaster give pleasure flights, but the British one can’t.
I’m sure the owners of many UK ex-military aircraft such as the B17 are asking the same question. I’d hate to see the CAA ban the Lanc flying because of this (they have to have permission to fly in UK airspace), so best they sort it out prior to the trip over..
The B17 is at Biggin Hill
How about Choctaw?
No you havent
I flew past it near Southampton yesterday, it was heading North..
There’s a Mystere IV at the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum at Headcorn.. Last I heard, the USAF were coming to collect it, but that was quite a few years ago. It has sat there unloved ever since, together with an equally unloved and rare (in museum terms) F100F Super Sabre.
