Burgers….
and seeing several aircraft end up as smoking holes (Vintage Pair, Frecce Tric G-91, T-34 etc etc…..:(
and walking what seemed like miles in those days but probably now’t compared to RIAT.
I think I also remember seeing a real Fulton recovery system demo from the ARRS based at Woodbridge but maybe my memory is playing up..
The Canadian F-104 duo appearing from behind the crowd!
And in those days, I did have a Zenit ‘iron bodied’ 35mm camera……But it did the job!
Those were the days
I presume Kinloss rather than Kinross..
No, Kinross it is.
Some showground in the middle of nowhere, just right for an air display:confused:
I’ll be there too, looks like a good programme of aircraft:D
LCY it is (or rather the area to the north of the runway)
As I said, if I were a CAA surveyor, then it would be just another aircraft and I would have been involved right from day 1 with the company covering it (Marshalls).
Off down to the aerodrome now for lunch….
If James has arranged to renew his DA, then the 2 people who may be available to do it will tell him what he needs to know….
It’s private chaps, with many sensitive areas around. Why do you think it’s not marked on the charts???? Those who NEED to know, already know.
I think Melvyn has just about covered everything….. Apart from the fact that there is absolutely no way it will fly, complete the test programme and get a permit issued in enough time to fly up the Mall on 17th June…..
Nashio,
whoever Certifies her is going to have a lot of guts as thats a massive responsibilty!
Indeed, but then to the CAA surveyor who inspects the Vulcan in preparation to issue it’s Permit to Fly, it’s just another aircraft which has to comply with the requirements in force. It won’t fly unless it’s airworthy:D
Personally, I hope the Vulcan does fly, but I fear it will be an expensive exercise which the HLF won’t repeat and I’m sure the ‘money pit’ and pleas for more funds will continue until it’s grounded again.
Yup, G-BWGL is going to live in the Netherlands……
Was registered to “STICHTING HAWKER HUNTER FOUNDATION” at Leeuwarden in March 2007..
whoever signed it off will get all the blame wont he/she? whoever inspects it had better sign her off,
Hmmm, seems like a thorough understanding of the certification process!. Ever thought of becoming an MP?
Whilst on the subject, I’m surprised there’s been no further attempt at getting another great icon (Concorde) flying? Just for a few airshows mind…. Nothing too much…..Just a few tweaks and it’ll be airworthy etc etc
I’ll get me coat….:D
PS For those who dont know my realistic attitude to airworthiness, this was written with tongue buried firmly in cheek:rolleyes:
Actually, the Fire engine was the only 24v battery we could find……
I’m sure at least one of the mags said it would be.
So that is means it must be true then!!!
This is old news. I saw in the Lashenden air warfare museum notes at least 3-4 months ago that the aircraft were due to go. The Mystere IV to be scrapped and the F-100F to go to a museum in the States. The Beaver accident now puts the F-100F future in doubt, which is a shame, as I’m sure it’s the only one in the UK.
Maybe if the museum had cared for the aircraft, they would have stayed. Same can be said for the Whirlwind, Vampire(s) etc etc that used to be there. I remember the Vampire sitting out on the airfield slowing rotting away:rolleyes:
As far as I know there have never been a civil Iskra flying in the UK
The aircraft was flown into Manston from either Shoreham or Bournemouth, can’t remember which…
There’s an awful lot of people who slag the authorities off (not just the CAA) ‘cos its the thing to do without really knowing the policy or reasons why aircraft are not permitted to fly. I know that a lot of people in the CAA have been very positive in getting this Vulcan project ‘off the ground’, but there are always hoops to jump through and as Melv says, most of the time the hoops cost money and time. A project of this size doesn’t happen in 5 minutes.
The Vulcan will fly, just needs a lot of time, money and enthusiasm spent and it will get there.
Same goes for the Buccaneer – HHAs Bucc at Scampton should fly this year;)
PS. Anyone fancy getting Concorde airworthy again?
