How about:
Think before posting…
Know about the subject you are arguing about before posting rubbish & speculation…
No more “Will it be at Legends” posts…:D
£10,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me thinks a decimal place in da wrong place:rolleyes:
As I see it, if it’s got a foreign permit to fly, then it can (normally) fly in the UK for a period of (normally) 28 days. If the intention is to register it in the UK and apply for a UK P to F, then I believe that is increased to 3 months.
If it’s arrived without anything in the way of paperwork, why should the UK CAA let it fly at all, let alone for test purposes? So lets not speculate and why not wait and see, as I’m sure the maintenence company who got it out of the box & put it together will have it all worked out.:D
Can I just add a big ‘up’ (my daughter taught me that…Yoof speak) to the organisers in producing the best show of 2006 IMHO (RIAT & Legends zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, eat your heart out!).
Looking forward to 2008:D
The IAC did produce a set of notes for the Tr9, I had a copy somewhere….
Isn’t that Fury beautiful?? Now, what do we all need to do to persuade them to get it back into the air and onto the airshow circuit??
Wait….. It won’t be long before a real Hawker Fury emerges from the Aero Vintage/Historic Aircraft Collection workshops. G-BKBB is a replica.
As for the Viima, it was once G-BAAY based in the UK and played the part of the dastardly Hun’s red aircraft in ‘Aces High’ (1976). It would be fab to see it here again.
Blue Max,
I last saw it at Old Hay (2001 I think), and believe that it had a minor ding on it’s return to Andrewsfield. Havent seen it since….
Here’s how its done……..All poppies dropped over the Memorial 😎
Having the doors off meant it was easier to get the poppies out, but bloody cold for pilot and ‘bomb aimer’.
Pics by Norm Feltwell 😀
Will the CAA allow it to fly over the Mall?
Don’t hold your breath chaps, I doubt it very much. I know that certain permit-to-fly aircraft were allowed over London in 2005, all multi engined, but that was for a very special occasion (i.e HM Queen, VE Day celebs etc etc)
Whats the big ‘do’ over the Mall in 2007? Just because the VOC say they are going to do it doesnt mean they will get CAA exemptions.
PS, I’m still on to eat my hat if indeed the great bird does get it’s wheels off the ground, but I think my titfer is safe at the moment…. and as EN830 says, I’ll defend my right to be a realist on this forum instead of a dreamer:D
The other thing I don’t have a warm feeling about is this:
£1000 buys you a share in the Newcastle Jet Provost Group (£1 share, £999 joining fee)
Joining fee? Why not just say it’s £1000 a share? Don’t you have to own at least 5% of the jet if it’s operated as a company and you are a shareholder? (Article 130 of the ANO)
That means G-BVEZ is only worth £20.00
Well I disagree I think you’re all wrong
No, were not! 😀
Training: Between 5 & 7 hours to convert onto the JP to go solo.
For a 100hr PPL!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😮
I know its a very simple jet, and that it’s well within the capability of most ‘capable’ PPLers but 5 to 7 hrs for a 100hr total time pilot? Even if it took him/her say, 60 hrs to go solo, with only 40hrs P.1? What insurance deal have you got?
there have been a couple of nasty incidents with parachutes and aircraft
I can only recall one….female parachutist landed on top of the parachute plane as it was landing. I’m not sure of any more incidents involving aircraft at Headcorn, which has an excellent safety record apart from that one isolated incident in March 1989.
There’s actually more danger from the non-based idiots who fly through the overhead while parachutes are dropping
Apparently, in a completly new PR angle, the new sponsor will be doing something politically gender correct and will be supplying MEN to ride on the wing…In a blatant show of European solidarity, they have secured the services of four retired miners from Eastern Europe who will start their training in the spring. The increased weight ‘on top’ will mean that the aircraft can no longer transit to far off displays, and Vic, Martyn and Mike will no longer have something to look up at on those display flights…… 😀
they will use ALL FOUR Stearmans for EVERY show
I’m reliably informed that this is not the case. 😉
I have a picture somewhere of a Varsity doing a touch and go at Old Warden. Not sure if it was the same event pictured in photo 104, which is at O.W.
Also remember passing by Andrewsfield the day after the Anson U/C collapse..Good to see it’s still flying 🙂
