Has anyone got any good verticals of West Malling in the 50s or 60s?
Who said they did or would?
Well they did win WW2 didnt they? Cant wait to see the remake of the Dambusters… I hope it’s not as bad as the remake of ‘Get Carter’
unfortunately the concrete runway is no more and only a grass strip remains
North Coates I think it is…..
I think you’ll find that most, if not all of the ‘real’ aerial sequences were shot and filmed in the UK, with Ray Hanna as the Aerial sequence director..
Dont let the Americans tell you they did it all….
I thought it was Matthew Byatt….
Anyway, contact Trading Standards if you are getting a raw deal. There may have been a genuine reason, but there’s no excuse for taking somebody’s cash and then not being helpful…
There are other Tiger Moth operators who do flights, such as the Tiger Club at Headcorn, although being in South Wales you are out on a limb so to speak..
Got lots of hours in a Super Decathlon, which is just a higher powered Citabria. Fairly easy to land, a bit short of useful load, springy undercarriage but will prepare you well for the Stearman. Does this mean I’ll have to do more circuits with my eyes closed next year? 😀
Shame you cant use the Auster. If you can land an Auster well every time, you can land anything!
Actually, I think a huge vote of thanks is due to Blue Max himself, for putting the whole flying event together. When’s the next one Matt?
I had a fab couple of days, and a very nice lady even managed to entice me onto the dance floor at the party on Saturday night! Anyone know when the next ‘Strictly Dance Fever’ is on the tele? 😀
Utt Butts have been to China in the past few years, airfreighted out and then re-assembled.
I heard that this ‘race’ was banned in the UK, obviously for good reason..
Kent – The garden of England.
Lydd – the compost heap at the end of the garden! 😀
Lydd always looks like it’s stuck in a late ‘fifties time warp
I always expect to see tumbleweed blowing across the airfield and doors banging in the breeze like some 1960s American road movie whenever I go there..
Loks like a bit of a bash – Note the Dragon (G-ECAN) & Dragonfly (G-AEDU) in the hangar, and Henry Labouchere tinkering with the Spitfire’s motor. Was Lampers really intercepted, or just a PR stunt?
a) The best Airfix kit you have built – 1/48 Mosquito (I won the ATC Wing modelling comp with this one!)
b) The worst Airfix kit you have built – 1/72 Tiger Moth (Utter to$h, didn’t even look like a tiger, but soon reprieved by the Matchbox 1/32 version!)
c) The Airfix kit you have built most of and how many times you have built it – 1/72 Spitfire Vb (Not sure how many times but a lot – It just looked so right)
If only – 1/24 Jungmeister. 1/24 Comper Swift
…..Will it be at Legends 2007?
I’ll get me coat 😀
Is this a wind-up?
Mr Albert Ross, when you finance a rebuild and the operation of a vintage aircraft, then I’m sure you can have a say in whether it’s in the correct colour scheme or not…
I have always said that if ever i am fortunate to be able to afford a Spitfire/Mustang/Corsair, I would paint it lime green with pink spots for a whole season.
I hear the pilots also wear the wrong flying clothing for the era, but as several people have said, who gives a to$$ 😡
it seems that it’s acceptable for an aeroplane to fly towards the crowd, go out of control an smash into the massed ranks of admiring public
Since when has it been acceptable to crash? It’s news to me….
It’s an air display, not a fugging bike show! If I wanted to see motorcyclists trying to break the sound barrier, I’d spend more time on the M25!
Can anyone tell me when the bikes/cars are due on, as I’d like to go for a nap..
See you there
