Curved air, the Best of
Do you have to pay to gain entry to the Moth Club arena as well?
Blimey, who gave you that DA?
I’ll be there all weekend 😀
Why does this not surprise me one bit? A con right from day one, with plenty of gullible mugs willing to contribute to the VTTS coffers. Probably the same lunatics who want to get concorde airworthy again, just to do “a few air displays”
Sadly, the Heritage Lottery fund will probably learn from this fiasco, thus preventing any more worthy rebuilds from getting funding.
Next project…. An airworthy TSR2?
My question to the directors would be…. Where has all the money gone?
Last time I flew over, there wasn’t much left of Tangmere anyway…Unlike West Raynham, which really should be saved
Its a Rockwell Thrush Commander, G-BCKA, G-BCKB or G-BCKC. ADS Aerial Services (Marmol’s crop spraying company) had 3 based at Southend in the 1970s.
A safe show, no pre-event speculation, no whingers, no encampments on the crowdlines, cameramen and press banned and therefore, no “who’s got the biggest and fanciest digital camera competitions”, no reflective jerkins on the flightline, no riff-raff who can’t tell the difference between a Spitfire and a Hurricane (yes it’s true!)….etc etc
I’ll get me coat…. 😀
Bristol Fighter G-AANM – Dave Evans
Bristol Fighter G-ACAA – Stu Goldspink
Bristol Fighter G-AEPH – Rob Millinship
‘Lee’ is Lee Proudfoot, and yes, I believe he did fly MH434 all weekend.
Taff Smith flew the Buchon
Anyone know what the radial engined cabin type is inside the hangar? Looks like a Cessna Airmaster to me….
Theres still quite a few buildings remaining on the old RFC aerodrome at Rendcomb in Gloucestershire.

For your information I’m not anti US, I just consider GW Bush a Tw-t or does that offend you.
I’ll second that, and raise it to ‘Uneducated tw@t’. It matters not that he is the US president, he would still be a tw@t if he was the president of Togo!
Harvest Air operated a number of WW1 replicas for Leisure Sport at Thorpe Park, including the DR1, the D VIII and D VII. I think the D VIII crashed at Southend shortly after it was built. Also a fair number of other types inc Camel, Fairchild Argus G-AJPI and DH2 G-BFVH.
I saw the Leisure Sport DR1 flying at an air display at Kenley in 1978 and fairly certain it was G-BEFR. They also had a Tiger Moth there T6553, which is G-APIG
Sorry to wreck your amusing bit of ethnic abuse
Actually it wasn’t abuse, and as the term ‘scouser’ seems to be acceptable to the BBC these days, and could be considered as ‘English’ as I am, I don’t think it was particularly ‘ethnic’ either.
But I’ll bow to your superior moderation skills
Talking of aircraft refuellers, does anyone have any info or pictures on those vehicles that had a fuel tank as the body, had 3 wheels and a drivers cab on the rear of the vehicle. I remember seeing one at Leicester years ago, and think Shuttleworth have also got one..
