Anyone know which Beech 18 that is, painted maroon?
I believe he’s still a display examiner for the CAA
not for at least the last 7 years….
The Vulcan has got be readied for flight first, then test flown, then acquire a Permit to Fly from the CAA (for a ‘new’ type to the civilian reg – flying, not taxying!), then be cleared to operate as a CAP632 aeroplane by the CAA. Call me cynical, but shall we get our cameras out in 2008?
I get in free every year, so don’t really give a flying furkin either way. But then I’m either working or flying. Who else is going to pay for the fun unless the punters do? I’m sure TFC ain’t going to subsidise it for the pleasure of the masses! If you want a top class airshow, you have to pay top class prices these days I’m afraid. You could always go and stand at the end of the runway….
Bloody whingers!
PS Rob, if you really are going to spend £100 on beer, you’ll be far too pi$$ed to watch aeroplanes on the Sunday! :p
Correct. There used to be a company called ‘Kagair’ at Southend, not sure what they operated though..
James Gilbert owned the Jungmeister G-AYSJ for quite a few years in the 70s & 80s, the aircraft is now operated by the Fighter Collection at Duxford. I think G-AXMT was owned by Spencer Flack
I’ll wager that it won’t fly on 18th Aug 2006…£500 to the RAFBF if it does 😀
Picture taken from a 32 Sqdn Squirrel, orbiting over the formation…
Historic Aircraft Collection Ltd also have the same address. So its probably a firm of solicitors or accountants holding the company accounts
Yes, I believe thats what it says in the CAA Reg database…..
But who (as in which restoration company or person) owns it?
Could it be a civilian Brittania that has been painted in RAF colours?
Depends where it was, but I’d be there..
Ewan H
CPL/IR, DA, Cpl ATC (retd)
PS I take it from the lack of response so far that:
a) all the proper pilots are doing something productive, like work, or
b) me and Trinny are the only ones who want to go to a fly-in….?
Heard from ‘a mate’ that it is indeed true….Although when it will happen is anyone’s guess 😀
I’m sure that whatever the history of this particular airframe, the owner is entitled to do whatever he wishes with it. If that means a bright Pink and lime green P-51 roaring around the skies of East Anglia, complete with tiger effect seat covers and furry dice, then at least we’ll see another classic aircraft in the air 😀
(PS, I’m sure that we won’t actaully see a pink and lime green P-51 flying, but it’s sure to be a nice example whatever happens…..)
PPS – Some of those ‘accurate’ colour schemes seen in the USA leave a lot to be desired
Ben,
the ‘Steiglitz’ you refer to was actually a Viima, G-BAAY, which i think has now gone abroad somewhere.
Anyone else think that Aces High was one of the best WW1 films ever made?
