ISTR that the Albemarle had an awful accident record. Can somebody tell us why this type in particular?

I consider North Weald to be historically important – it was after all a Battle of Britain Airfield.

Unfortunately, so was West Malling….now a collection of executive houses, and also Hawkinge, also a mass of new housing. Hornchurch, Gravesend and several others are all now history, buried under housing..

As far as property developers and local councils are concerned, why let emotions and national heritage get in the way of a fantastic money making opportunity? Lets face it, North Weald is well drained, has got good rail and road links, and is full of ‘those noisy aeroplanes’ which everybody hates until they want to go on holiday!! And just think of the revenue from all the residents councils taxes?

I’m as pi$$ed off as anyone that yet another airfield seems destined for the chop. Yet despite campaigns, local opposition and public inquiries, the hard facts are that “Real estate” is valuable & Property Developers and politicians dont really give two hoots about heritage. And yet if it was a religious temple of some dodgy sect, then I’m sure it would stay!!!!

The country HAS finally gone down the pan!

I wondered why there were so many people clustered around the tail of the B-25!!! And don’t you love the ‘chap in the hat’ rubbing his hands together…..

Any idea who’s mum she is?

HACs Hawker Nimrod II and Bristol F2b Fighter should be flying in 2005, and maybe the OV-10 Bronco that has been in the ARCO hangar for a while now.

Not only the first flight of the Yak-1 after restoration, but the Hawker Nimrod II and the Bristol F2b Fighter should both fly in 2005..

Looks like a good year for HAC coming up

I also noticed that the builders have left a bloody great white arrow laying next to the tower……before any other wag gets there first!

If it wasnt for the cover of each magazine, they have almost the same content every month…

Aeroplane Monthly gets my vote, if only for featuring more UK based articles. Flypast tends to pad out the mag with trivia from across the pond….

But as I say, I read both, but it’s like reading the same mag twice!

    Galdri,

The Pilot of the Jungmann who you saw overhead Headcorn was almost certainly Pete Kynsey….As you say, Slow, easy and very, very GRACEFUL. Exactly how a Jungmann should be displayed.

NZ Teletext is reporting that a 20,000 signature petition has been handed to British PM Tony Blair in an attempt to persuade him to get Concorde flying again. Save Concorde Group was protesting in Downing Street apparently.

Just goes to show thats there’s at least 20,000 wackos in this crazy world of ours!! Guess where that 20,000 signature petition is now?

Guys, It ain’t going to happen, no more so than getting a squadron of Sea Hornets airworthy again. So save your time and money and pick up on another cause, like saving the whale or something

PS any wackos want to donate some money to my flying account? Its for a good cause 😉

It appears that Bradair are handling the sale of Hawker Sea Fury FB11 currently owned by Mr John Bradshaw.

    That’s because it’s John’s Company 🙂

    Stringbag,

Paul Stone certainly did the right thing, by being lucky enough to be selected to fly it at Biggin Hill…….However, he certainly wasn’t flying the Sea Fury at Duxford…….

Dave Mackay was the pilot for the Duxford show, and I heard that it was a prec landing due to ‘a minor snag’, which was subsequently found to be not a problem after an air test….

Better on the ground than in the air with a problem, especially in an aeroplane that doesn’t glide too well.

    Alls well that ends well

Nice tribute, but PV202 is still with us, sitting in the HFL hangar at Duxford awaiting its (second) engine runs…. 😉
