JDK,
We are all entitled to our opinions, and my post was in response to the constant whingeing that seems to pervade this forum, especially about FL2004. I’m sorry that you choose to disagree with my opinions, but thats your choice and its a free country matey.
And the reason this is an anonymous forum is that I can be just that…
Mr Tweed/JDK or whatever your name is, I take it you forgot who you were pontificating at….
At no time did I say “”It’s unforgiveable, I lost my temper”, That’ll be Skypilot62/mad manx who uttered the words….
Everything I said in my post stands 😀
Reading all the garbage (especially from a certain Mr Albert Ross!) thats being written on here about who stands next to their aeroplane, or pilots taking too long to do a pre-flight etc has made me vow to take as much time as possible doing my walkround, pre-flight/after flight checks…also wearing the loudest, most historically inaccurate flying clothing possible. I can’t believe people take the time to write this kind of rubbish!
And I always found the best cure for any rude photographer ‘press’ or otherwise was a stout ‘Why don’t you naff off’, then have them removed by security from the flightline for disturbing the pilots concentration… :p
Why cant you spotters & photographers just chill out and accept what you get.. If you don’t like it, vote with your feet & don’t bother turning up next year! 😡 As somebody has already said, probably 90% of people (Your average man-in-the-street and his kids) went home totally satisfied after seeing some nice hardware flying.
Odiham only had three C Type hangars, so I think this discounts it. I also think that the airfield is is flat countryside, which narrows it down slightly. Definately not Thorney Island, as theres no water anywhere to be seen.
I’m still guessing at Feltwell…
I’ve discounted Binbrook & Leeming, as the arrangement of hangars doesnt fit the picture. Dishforth & Driffield are both in hilly countryside
Ok, it’s one of this list:
Bramcote
Dishforth
Driffield
Feltwell
Finningley
Horsham St Faith
Leconfield
Lindholme
Linton on Ouse
Marham
Middle Wallop
Newton
Thorney Island
Topcliffe
Waddington
It’s a very flat landscape, and has a very distinctive watch office; my bet is Feltwell.
Five C Type Hangars?
Should be easy to track down, as not many airfields had 5
S’funny, I saw a Bulldog at Goodwood on Tuesday just like that one. Cant be that new….
The Nangis Alpha Team website HERE
A sad day for the French Air Display Industry
So who do YOU think should get the job??????
My money is on Rod Dean
If the Shuttleworth Collection hadn’t sold off some aircraft in the 1980s, and then spent good money buying them back (Provost), then they could probably afford to keep the Hornet Moth a leetle longer.
maybe a little broader imagination could bring in types such as the Auster and Druine Turbulent which have been a part of British aviation for many years
Not sure what you mean by this David? Certainly, the Turbulent and Auster have been part of the UK aviation scene for years, but so have the Piper Cherokee and the Cessna 150! Maybe we ought to let the Collection decide what aeroplanes they collect, and just enjoy…….
😎
Ian Groom was an ex-pat British guy living in the States. He flew a Pitts S-2S for Great Britain in the 1986 World Aerobatic Chapionships at South Cerney. A likeable chap, he will be sadly missed.
I only know the area after spending close on 5 years driving to work past it. Herbert????
Gaw’ on gis a clue
Brook Hospital in Shooters Hill Road? Again, not sure of the connection..
Mrs Miggins tea rooms just outside RAF Hawkinge??
Seriously though, is it the old hospital in Shooters Hill Road, Woolwich? Not sure what the connection is, but it looks familiar
