Yes Korea n Indonesia relationship are very good…
we purchase Korean LPD, initial overseas buyer of KT-1B ungbi and our old 209 also being repaired/refitted in Korea too….Korea purchase CN-235 maritime patrol…..
detail on the cooperation… we are only minor partner here

@witcha, you need to study better concerning Asia geopolitic, Korea and Japan are not good friends, Korea still have a grudge concerning Japan attack in WW2 and probably in Hideyoshi era too (speak about good memory :D), economic cut throat competition (both have very similar product, outside Sony Playstation n japanime :D) plus border dispute. India have their own FGFA project.

detail on cooperation I posted here
    http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=101011
beside we only minor partner, more nation can join if situation allowing. the more the merrier…..

Indonesia can’t contribute much money, & its aircraft design & manufacturing expertise is limited to small propellor aircraft.

BTW, why do you say ‘if the US will export the engine’? The USA isn’t the only country building fast jet engines.

our (indonesia) annual budget is 100 billion dollars….yes we maybe cant contribute much money…..
that is why we are a junior partner with only 1bn US$ and 20% share of work in the project..
It maybe end up that what IAe do is no more than license build it with some minor design work… but that is better than do nothing for us, and for Korea too, a partner, no matter how minor, is better than none ๐Ÿ™‚
we are only experienced and interested in small prop-birds..it could also be good, we wont push our ego, stealing each others secrets n break project like what happened with Aermacchi346 vs Yak-130 ๐Ÿ˜‰

Commander-in-Chief: PAK FA Will Go into Series Production with Old Engines

The first batch of fifth generation airplanes may reach the troops with an “unrelated” engine, Russian air force CinC, General-Colonel Aleksandr Zelin, has reported.

“At the present time we are putting up the fifth generation airplane on an unrelated engine, that is, not on the one that will be on the series-built example,” Zelin said.

At the same time he expressed hope that by the start of series deliveries the airplane will be equipped with the new engine.

“In any case, if the first batch is with this unrelated engine, then the other batch will be with the new,” Zelin specified, RIA Novosti reports.

We recall that it is planned to begin PAK FA series deliveries to the troops from 2015. The first prototypes of the preproduction batch is supposed to reach the Lipetsk Center for Combat Application and Cross Training of Flight Personnel in 2013. The first fifth generation fighter flight occurred 29 January at the air field of the Komsomol’sk-on-Amur Aviation Production Association which is included in the Sukhoy holding company. The aircraft spent 47 minutes in the air. Russiaโ€™s honored test pilot Sergey Bogdan piloted the fighter.

As the newspaper VZGLYAD has reported, in the middle of June, the Russian Federation deputy defense minister for armament, Vladimir Popovkin, reported that the military leadership plans to purchase a minimum of 50 such aircraft before 2016.

    why is this
why purchased a batch of crappy prototype ? why not simply wait polished, real, 5th gen pak-fa ? 2 years would be enough to finish the engine….

Engine inlet design is a fundamental part of the aircraft. The position of the engines is fixed and has a huge impact on the weight distribution. the inlet size and form is very important to make sure that the engine get use able air during the whole flight regime. A big redesign would mean another prototype.

but they will have to change it sooner or later…the final pak-fa will have completely different engine with different weight distribution etc….
TsAGI is competent and will do the recalculation fast :diablo:

I wouldn’t be surprise if it were true we’re talking about 5 to 6 years from now technology only seems to improve in such a short time span. If the Mig-35 already possesses 1024 modules our expectations should somewhat be just as high when it comes to PAK-FA AESA.

quantity is not everything, they could also use 1024 module but with much higher technology and better data processing ๐Ÿ™‚

    How confusing…..

    Su-35 (T-10M)

    &

    Su-35S (T-10BM)

    Two totally different machines.

    Add in Su-35UB (T-10UBM-1)

…..and it’s no wonder us Flankerphiles have difficulty keeping up

    Ken

to make thing confusing is the tradition of the Soviet Union :p

Yes, everyone here is well aware of what LPI is. Hell, I’m sure there are posters that could delve into detailed phase shift keying algorithms, chirplet transforms, pulse compression, etc… LPI is not exclusive to the US and is a well understood radar technology. It’s also not invisible. Just significantly less easy to detect. Why do you think that when the Rafale and the F-22 flew DACT against each other a few months back, it was all WVR, with neither the APG-77 nor SPECTRA engaged? Because the USAF didn’t want to give the French anything to chew on using SPECTRA’s SIGINT capabilities and likewise the French did not want to expose whether or not the APG-77 was detectable by SPECTRA.

not to mention that LPI actually very loose term…and the basic have been researched since WW2. Now since my nation kakap-class FPB-57 already use LPI radar then it the boat will be undetectable by APG-77 :diablo:

Russia is getting betetr with each year, wealthier and more advanced, currently their economy is of the size of France but grows at a higher rate, certainly they will surpass England Germany in a decade and they are going to be able to buy better weaponry in order to recreate their sphere of influence in khazakhastan, Belarus and Ukraine beside India and middle east theya re planning very likely new aircraft to repalce the Su-34 and the most visible evidence is the new stealth bomber they are building

BUT russia non military industry seems not growing…russia today too much on energy sector and this is not very healthy…
I will have to wait to see Russia population growing up, putin get rid the mafiya for more transparent business sector, good harmony with other FSU and more balanced industrial economy before I could say their future are brighter one….

I cant wait to see the operational version… it could be very different with current pak-fa ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
just look @ flanker… the prototype and the final version have different engine position, wing, tail, cockpit etc ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

You are completly right dionis! some guys are sleeping and havent notice the Russian progress on avionics and electronics the past 10 years! very stupid to underest the Russians because they arent retarded as some especially US people still think.Havent learned from Pearl harbour!

we know SAPSAN, some zhuk ESA prototype etc…
but…Russian dont have proper mikrochip industri iirc…
so they must buy french or US stuff to get their thing right…
and depend upon other nation in advanced project…
even MBT T-90 use a french item in it to get it right…
have this been solved ? ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t quite get what the huge problem with the supposed T-50’s intake blocker is. From what I know:

    – according to some insiders on militaryphotos, the first prototype has no radar blockers installed because engines used are not optimized for that. Sounds pretty sensible to me.. If that i true, then we see a compressor face on the pic. If we do, what is the problem with that? It’s extremely unlikely that it stays that way on series examples so what does it say?
    – from past examples like JSF or ATF it’s obvious, that a design equipped with radar blockers can still be considered more stealthy than one equipped with curved ducts. From that point of view we cannot consider any of the solutions as ‘more or less advanced’.

So, again, Kapedani, Otaku and others, what is the problem?

really ? I always think S-duct is the optimal solution since it used on F-22…
also 2nd think, why ppl here says that Russian impossible move T50 engine position as it the same with designing new plane ?
I means, look at flanker, compared with T10 prototype it got new wing, tail and different engine position too IIRC…..
