    I dont see why US cant close the multiple bases they have overseas.

    Closing down bases in Japan and Europe would end up saving US billions of dollars.

    and then there will be a lot of ‘end of US era’/’declining giant US’ headline on mainstream newspapers all over the world which is bad for next election perhaps

    41% of the US defense budget is to pay for operations and maintenance. A portion of that 41% is the cost of keeping hundreds of facilities open — nearly a facility for each congressional district — unnecessary facilities — $ billions of unnecessary facilities.

    The Base Realignment Commission was a good idea, but BRAC has been corrupted by Congressmen and Senators who don’t want the base in their district to close.

    try to tell that to the gentlemen at the congress :p

    Lots of vibration to mess up both the OE picture and cause higher component failure rate.

    Not good.

    really ?
    Mangusta already there since 1980s so all the bug should ‘ve been solved

    Sukhoi tells of T-50 not as of YF-22 analog, but, more likely, as of first F-22 EMD aircrafts

    so 1997 -> 2003

    and – “Uverennost'”

    what is EMD :confused:

    as for next red arrow aircraft….
    they need s’thin special that make ppl enjoy watching em despite the boring show… give them eurofighter typhoon, no matter how boring the display everyone will enjoy watching a red typhoon 😀

    The new Russian air guided missiles

    Tactical Missiles Corporation completes the creation of a new generation of precision weapons. New class of guided missile (SD) General Purpose (mngogotselevyh) comprise a number of developments :

    The modular product range missiles for high combat effectiveness during operations on a wide range of purposes due to the possibility of using different types of combat equipment and guidance systems:

    X-38MAE – Inertial + active radar;

    X-38MKE – + inertial satellite navigation;

    X-38MLE – Inertial + semi-active laser;

    X-38MTE – Inertial + thermal imaging.

    Half the mass of the rocket is powerful warhead (250 kg), which can be equipped with battle gear high-explosive/fragmentation (OFBCH) or penetrating (PrBCh) type – the Kh-38MAE; 38MLE X and X-38MTE or cluster warhead (KBCH) – missile X-38MKE.

    http://sdelanounas.ru/blogs/5500/

    I never heard such missile using cluster warhead… what is the application for ? cluster is bomblette isnt it ? while the missle fly onto an object, not over it so how it release its cluster then ?

    The predictions about Ka-52 orders going beyond the originally planned three dozens were obviously right. AFAIK, the Alligators have been very reliable in service so far and are much more loved than Havocs..

    really ? I always think kamov’s coaxial rotor is more maintenance intensive n less reliable than standard rotor-tail rotor chopper…. kamov design is really2x great then…
