Thanks to all the posters here, some fantastic suggestions. I’ve been away a couple of days to return to all these really amazing posts. I really appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to pitch in.
In answer to a couple of comments: we are looking for wrecks that remain in-situ. We have strong ideas of how we will be able to flesh these sites out into really interesting programmes, although I probably shouldn’t say too much about our specific plans!
The Dornier off the South Coast of the UK is a good shout – I understand the RAF museum is going to be involved in salvaging that aircraft at some point next year.
I have to say one of my favourite options at the moment is the island of Ballale in the Solomans – something of an elephant’s graveyard of Japanese aircraft in the Pacific it seems:
