This is model 265-2 from McDonnell Douglas … it was a study during the early days of the ATF studies from the ATFI programme !
Here’s one more from the bigger model 265-1:
Sorry … I don’t have any idea … the second one reminds me strongly on the McDD concept for a third generation Harrier (model ??? – sorry I have to search !), but “elmayerle” from the “whar-if” furum gave me this advice:
“They are both GD studies from the early 80’s. Unfortunately, I’m not in a position to go browse through the AD records. If you’re near a college with a good aeronautics program, see if they have the AIAA Journal of Aircraft and the technical papers from this time frame.”
Hope it helps, Deino 🙂
…. and this one just called VSTOL F-1 test 252:
…
If it’s not to much for You … please !
… anyway ! Did You get my PM and my e-mail aderess ??

The Lavi is a Mirage deviate? man, you gotta get glasses 😀
Sorry !!! I know that the Arye and the Kfir are not Mirage-deviates … I meant the Mirage-deviates (Nesher, Kfir, …) then the indigenous Arye-project and final the Lavi !!
The Lavi was the last fighter plane that was designed in Israel.
A word about a new plane, called the “Shachal” has been heard in the early 90s, but it was never confirmed.
Any thoughts about the layout ???? …. single or twin engine ??, delta-canard-configuration, …. more related to air-to-air or air-to-ground ????
A new Mirage deviate is the Nammer, that took off in 91.
Any pictures !?! …. I thought the Nammer was a proposed improved Kfir with a GE F-404 !!! (like Your Kfir-2000)
BTW, I talked to the reporter that wrote the article about the Arye, and he sent me a few pictures of two Arye designs, one is an enlarged two-engined Kfir and the other is the one you saw in the computer generated picture I uploaded here. The rest of the Arye concepts (about 40) remained classified, and the only other Arye concept we know of is the Lavi 😉
Sounds very interesting !!! The only picture I know is the one below …. can You PLEASE post the other one !!??
Was the twin-engined Kfir powered by two J-79 or even two PW1120 ?
Thanks in advance and best regards, Deino 😉
Does anyone know have some more information regarding Israeli fighter projects:
All I know so far are the “old” Mirage derivates, IAI Arye, IAI Lavi … and then ???
Best regards, Deino 😀
Very nice !!! :p Thanks for sharing !
But does anyone know the very different development configurations !!???
Here they are !
I never knew that the IDF development was gone tru so much different configurations … and that it was recorded as detailed as I found it here !!!

Here’s the “story-board”:

Enjoy them, Deino 😎
I have a question regarding the follow-up programe of the FS-X !
Some time ago I saw a picture of a proposal / concept – I think it was in Flight Int. – regarding the future F-15 replacement !
It looked much like a stealthy 5th generation concept … but as I remember should be smaller than the F/A-22 !!!!

Sorry to disappoint You … but these pictures are completely new to me ! 😉
But I had a strange idea some time ago – exactly tree years ago – to start a model of a a “what-if” Hornet 2000 Configuration V based on the drawing below !!!!

Here’s the link to the “in progress-report”:

.. and these are some pictures of my model …. 😀

Have some fun, Deino 🙂
Hello HarrierEditor !!
thanks for Your reply … I found that drawing “somewhere out there in the www.” …. see two post before there’s the link ! It’s a “what-if” modelling forum or news group !
Regarding Your other informations thanks a lot and I deeply regret that there are still some P.XXXX numbers in Your list and Tony Buttler’s book which are still secret !!!
Best regards,
Deino 🙂

MCA-1, MCA-2??
Sorry … a maybe silly question again !
Is the MCA still “running” a project or has it been replaced by the jouint Russian / Indian PAK-FA ???
Regarding theis different main focus on air-to-air (PAK-FA) and / or air-to-ground (MCA) I can’t believe that India can afford two programmes of such complexity !!

Regarding this scale-drawing – it’s maybe a silly question !!?? – it looks like that the PL-9 is based on the PL-8 ????
Hmmm … I don’t think so …. should be worth a try !?!!! 😉
