That “fliend” is the new Y-8GX-8 ELINT-version ! … and the powerplant is the typical latest WJ-6C turboprops with JL-4 6-blade propellers (like the Y-9)

Nice find MiG-29. By the way what airbase is that.

To admit, these images are not new and neither the base too: It’s Dinxin AB also called Base 14 operated by the Chinese Flight Test Evaluation (CFTE) and the 175th Brigade subordinated to the Tactical Training Centre. These images are from 19/11/2013 …

    is this J-16 or J-11B?

i do not know where is the difference

Never mind … the main differences for a J-16 are:
    – a twin-tire front gear
    – an off-set positioned IRST-dome
    – the same taller tails like the Su-30MKK has but not with these squared fins. (In fact this is the most difficult to spot difference. If You look at a a side image of both aircrfat – esp. the first one in #799 – then there is a fixed part between the fin’s base and the rudder (yellow), which is part of the rudder on the J-16 and Su-30MKK)

    Hope that helps a bit.

very likely it is the reason since these pictures show J-16 with Ws-10s

Sadly not, these are standard J-11BS – the J-16 has the larger rudder similar to the Su-30MKK and on this aircraft the IRST-dome is not offset to the left !.

Is there word on which engines are being used for J-15 and -16? Granted it would be strange for Shenyang to backtrack from WS-10.

The current serial J-15s are again or still powered by the AL-31F, whereas the J-16 uses the WS-10A !

Yes, and as such I’m surprised to see the old Y-8-style 4-blade props !

Is this a recent picture??? As it seem most of what we’ve seen lately is from the J-20. Including a number of modifications to early development aircraft.

What changes do You notice ???

Attention, this Image is not real …

… but that image is from a certain tread at the fyjs-Forum and the poster stated clearly this image is a ps-jop to show how it reportedly looks like but not a real Image of 2011’s

the Chinese media is saying they developed an ASM version.

Sources like news.21cn.com are saying that not me

That again might be … but quite often the Chinese media also tells things they simply snap out anywhere and esp. news-reports like the one You mention are not really reliably as a source.

    J-16BS

NO. that’s simply a J-11BS – in fact the trainer version of the J-11B – operated by the 32. Fighter Division and even more there is nothing like a J-16BS !
