    AL31F3 , also called series 3?

The link I meant speaks of only AL-31FN Series 3 !! … as such solely for the J-10. And a AL-31F3 I never heard of ??

Specialists of FEDERAL STATE UNITARY ENTERPRISE «NTC led the “salute” have successfully completed the first phase of the bench of resource and special tests for the supply of engines for AL-31fns series 3

So far it only reported the 2011 has undergone low speed taxi run, no maiden flight of 2011 prototype.

2011 features several modifications from the previous “tech demoers”, as noted in your post

Thanks … but can You therefore explain Goneles’ image (other than being psed) ???

    Su33/ J15 can’t use AL31FN, no matter what series.

But we have to believe what we see, espacially when the J15 prototype 554 changed the engine from same naval model of WS10H to an AL31F series

Sorry if You misunderstood my post: I know that no Flanker can use an AL-31FN … but in that link given a few days/weeks ago it was especially mentioned that these series 3 engines are AL-31FN and as such they could only fit to the J-10. Therefore I so far never read about series 3 AL-31F for the J-15 !!! What’s Your source on this ?

But wasn’t in that link mentioned, these engines were AL-31FN series 3 (as such for the J-10) and not AL-31F for Flankers ???

Thanks … that explanation was new to me !

By the way just an additional note nicely fitting to the ‘2011’ step-by-step striptease … what are the “facts” we have so far ???

We have now several images posted of this mystery bird:

    1. this strage “negative” images from Goneless (and we all know how close he can get to real interesting objects) posted on 3. December.
    2. that sketch or psed image showing the canopy-less new prototype from behind posted on 31. December …
    3. … that was just right now posted as a manupulated but real image today !
    4. and that image posted on 6. November showing the clipped tails !

Could it be that – esp. in mind of Goneless’ image – that aircraft already made its maiden flight and what we now see is indeed only a step-by-step striptease ??

To admit I don’t mind if they call it whatever as long it is a new prototype !

Finally I think we are getting closer to the real J-20 ‘2011’ or ‘2003’ … come on, and if You like “just leave Your hat on” !

    @ Rii

I completely agree with You and my idea – like said after a good glas of wine (or two) – was more an idea that there is much more and to be honest a bit more complicate things behind than the also simple assumption that China only steals and copies. IMO there was or at llike You suggest is right now (maybe after additional re-negotiations) some kind of agreement, which deserves fine for both sides, namely the Russian side gets some kind of remuneration and reputation and as such publicity to market their products and the CHinese side gets technology. I do not want to downplay the illegal part of this story – just as we see thius with the Z-20 story – but I’m almost sure that the hype around Chinese Flanker clones and so on is most of all also only one part of the less-informed public. I think it would be more than easy to stop the supply of AL-31FN for the J-10-program with one loud BANG if there any real issues about these things.

As such like You said, the story is not that simple …

    @ mack8 & Alpha Bravo

These were exactly my thoughts ! I even have the idea that China and Russia were playing games with us with strict roles and characters:
Russia = the good guy, who develops and who sells … and China = bad guy, who orders, buys a bit and copies the rest !

However at least the official “bahoo” is not that loud and sometimes even Russian officials admit that there are no legal-problems … seems as if behind closed doors or down under the table thick wallets were changing sides as long as both side stick to their contracts as well as their contracted roles and characters !

Just an idea after a very nice glas of wine (from France !!)

    J-15 + IFR-pod !!!

Quite interesting it looks like an UPAZ-1A pod … as such could it be that China has some deeper and much more secret connections maybe even with the whole Flanker (J-15/J-16-program) than we ever read in public ?

Interesting that it has ‘standard’ Russian-style wingtip launch rails, rather than the J-11B-style ‘lowered’ rails to cater for the bigger fins on the PL-8 missile.

    Ken

Yes, since the new PL-10 as seen on ‘1603’ has again shorter fins !

    Besides that here’s ‘2004’ !!!

Cheers and all the best for 2014,
    Deino
