A tad worried about this great aircraft. Would not the new owner ensure the aircraft undergoes currency flight, crew refreshers etc, expenced by of the course the owner?
I hear, Foxy is sat on the grass at Hurn these days, with a canopy cover over her.
Would not the new owner be marketing the aircraft to display organiszers – well she is one of a kind?
Be activley encourgaing aviation chaps like us to part with a few hard earned pounds a months to help maintain the aircraft
???????
Ahhh The MIG 23 Club! The odd fast taxi down Bruntingthorpes runway, now there’s a thought!
You might change your mind if you see it close up. It’s an ex BDR a/c.
OK – I’ll have the MIG 23 as a 2nd choice!
Would love the Phantom!:o
I hope so too, its my dads birthday too and Im hoping to take him up there for it.
Bex
Bex – I would take him to Kemble on that Sunday. I really would if I was you.
A multi-engine aircraft requires no advance permission to fly over a built-up area.
Moggy
We’ll see
The Vulcan should be airworthy in time, though we have to think about if 558 gets the relevant permissions to fly over a built up area in time.
More Falklands info at http://www.falklands25.com
And what about all the single engined aircraft that flew over London for the 1995 50th Anni of VE Day? Also what about each time the BBMF flies over London too? And wasnt there a fly past after the Falkands ended? Just a thought. Bex
That was in the good old days, pre 9/11, 7/07 etc!
The ‘single-engined aircraft’ card has been played before to stop the Sea Harrier / Harrier flying over London…
…never seems to stop the Red Arrows though in their single-engined Hawks.
I bet the MOD use The Reds.
Two Spitfires and two Hurricanes flew over for HRH’s birthday last year, so maybe they’ll make an exception for the Harriers. Also, just seen on the news that Maggie Thatcher is at Brunty today to have a look at the Vulcan
Yes – she is up today looking over the Vulcan and for the first time meeting the crews of BB1 and BB2.
I wish the media would correct themselves. The flypast in June – You always have the slowest aircraft first in a flypast formation, so that would put the Vulcan at the back of the flypast, maybe in formation with Harriers??
So,
The Vulcan will be there, the GR3’s can be represented by the GR7….. but are there any plans to get an Sea Harrier up and running for the flypast?
I understand that there are still a few in an ‘active’ state.
Thanks

Hmmm…… Single engined aircraft (Harriers) overflying a high population area. Hmmm we’ll see.
The 655 group have to remove two of the 301’s soon, as they have been promised them for XM655.
I might try and contact them would love to know their plans for her and such
Pete
I think there plans are to keep her looking nice for a long as her legs can take it or the airfield wants it off.
Good luck tracking them down and let us know how you get on.
Apparently she must also be engineless as the intake covers have small plates mounting them securely to the intakes and the nose blister is definatly riveted over.
Does anyone have contact info?
The town council of Happy Valley are responsible for the upkeep after the MOD gifted the airframe to the town years ago.
Now having spent the time painting 607, I have just had a mail from another forum informing me that black buck Vulcans had black undersides, I dont recall ever seeing any pictures off this, or reading any mention of this, as you can imagine it would be a quite monumental c*@k up on my part. Looks to me as a darker grey rather than black or was black the case on later missions?
Can anyone tell me one way or the other or are you all just to polite to tell me I’m a dipstick. Thanks to Damien for pointing out one or two other technical points which I am correcting, good to have a fresh pair of eyes look at these things
Cheers
Paul C
I think the undersides were Matt Dark Sea Grey BS381C-638
