Vulcan 903 Have you been inside her? any pics?
I like that video of XM655… smokey old beast!
Sorry no, the cockpit is locked up, and the aircraft is owned by the council of Happy Valley.
Goose is holding up well. A lot ofthe cockpit is gone but items do still exist on the air frame.
Sorry I’m finding it very hard to follow what you are asking.
The VTTS costings have self-evidently been consistently wrong. What more proof do you need beyond the last few weeks pantomime and the ‘Give us more money or we’ll scrap it’ debacle earlier?
Moggy
The past few weeks have been no pantomime for the workers, and volunteers at Bruntinthopre. Bear that in mind when you discuss the project.
Save or scrap was not a Vulcan Operating Company promotion.
However it is they, who in the past few weeks have worked towards saving 558. It is now saved. It will be restored. It will fly.
We need together, to work forward on how we are to raise funds for the operation of the aircraft after 2007, in case a sponsor(s) is not forthcoming in 2007.
Vulcan903 (or anyone else who can answer this question)…what kind of interest do the operators envisage for European airshows? Any? Lots? Some? Just wondering how popular the Vulcan is outside the UK.
I only know that – part of the HLF Grant is based on thats the nation (UK) should benifit from a Vulcan flying.
I don’t think 558 will do many overseas trips. Jersey will be the furthest I expect!
What concerns me about this project is:
First you have to get it past the CAA before it flies anywhere, (just ask Mike Beachyhead) and,
Which Airshows will be able to afford to book it?
Just to recap a bit:
David Thomas has meetings with the CAA, regarding the return to flight. There is no reason currently why the aircraft would not get a CofA. Once gained then its display vaildation cert will be required, which again should not be a show stopper.
A trustee is and ex CAA guy, which is helpful.
Book a Vulcan – Currently yours for £7000 – £10,000 a display.
Call Bruntingthorpe to book.
OH yes …… come on USAFE…. you know it makes sense now……….
So….here we go. A Vulcan To The Sky. What a great day at Bruntingthorpe today. It takes the aircraft to 1st flight + a few more if all the pledges come in, which I think they will.
Our best wishes (of course) go to F irwin who resigned from VTTS.
Heres to Summer 2007………and the Return of the Vulcan….. ROSE TINTED VULCAN GLASSES on and happy!
This is of course great news and well done to TVOC and the Vulcan To The Sky CLUB in getting out of a sticky hole left by others. I hope lessons have been learned.
This will but the Great back into Britain next June.
I hear the web site will be updated around 7.30 tomorrow morning.
Rollout of XH558 is tomorrow at Bruntingthorpe. Sir Mike Knight will talk about the current situation. At around 14.00 the Lancaster will perform a flypast.
Well done guys, I will be there, supporting this wonderfull project.
Members of VOC will be on hand also, but not sure about the VTTS Campagin Trustee and fundrasier!!!!!!!
News Alert:
BBC Breakfast News are at Bruntingthorpe Wednesday doing a OB on the Vulcan. Hopefully transmission will be on the Wednesday also.
Indeed – The US Navy were interested in using the Vulcan for further research in to the Boundary Layer. Just like the Capsian Sea Monster the USSR had, which worried the USA war machine so what.
It was a good enough interest for Dr Pleming to visit them for discussions. This was Pre Lottery times though.
Time for the Gallery!
Good be….
“For the first time in Six, yes, SIX years, XH558 Vulcan has had her landing gear fully restored and she is finally standing tall and proud. The team have worked extra hard on this part of the project and we are all so very grateful.”
If you pledge to the Vulcan 558 Club, and they call up the pledge you can pay them over a 6 month period. Worth a thought.
Major players are reviewing the project, one such is a very popular camera and photocopying company.
