Will have to go and by today. Seems that a letter has been printed in the Editors Letters section about the Vulcan with a rescue plan!

And if we can get out of this mess I suggest we make Rusty a Trustee.

So in essense then Vulcan903 are you saying,(Apoligies if I am reading you wrong of course) that the majority would rather see this project fail than speak up?… would you also say that the majority would turn away potential sponsorship for fear of upsetting the apple cart and at the expense of loosing a prominant figure? so there by, it is already over?…..

Lets see what trustees of our Vulcan do on September 1st.
But when you have potential sponsorship wishing to make a dontation offer conditional that there is a realignment of the current charity board, it begs the thought?
I don’t think the RSPCA, RSPB, OXFAM, Sally Army et al have conditions such as this, which begs the question, is the there a problem?
At the end of the day 20 or so keen workers lose there jobs and income, Dr Pleming’s efforts over the past 9 years will have been wasted, and this guy has put 110% of effort in I can vouch for that.

And credit to the Waltons also, while I think about it. I know David worked very hard with Robert at the start of this.

What about the aircrew who have put so much effort in. There vists and presentations to the CAA at Gatwick about how they plan to fly the machine. Re writing the aircrew manual also.

Like I say – lets see what the trustees do between now and in three weeks time.
Maybe the Vulcan Club can turn this situation around, with there pledge scheme?

I think those of us that have alway’s supported this project, and have indeed invested our “Hard Earned Money” in to it, are feeling somewhat helpless and a little in the dark.
But that would have always been the case, if it were cut and dry we would not be here debating it.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I know for me personally if there are changes to be made in the form of Managers,, Trustee’s in order for this project to stand any hope of reaching it’s objective they will be made..

I’m sure the VTTS are now at the point where, realism and the “clock ticking” is only too apparent to them.

If people now need to stand aside, for it to go to the next level, then I see that there is little choice for them, or room for debate.

Trustees are similar to the scoring of the Eurovision Song Contest, Greece, never votes for Cyprus, Poland always gives high votes to Germany, and vice versa! So to oust trustees you need a majority votes on the board. Personally I don’t think the majority on the VTS board have the guts to do it and would prefer to walk away on September 1st and go back to there day jobs, leaving just one trustee Dr Pleming out of work.
What a way to treat a guy who had a career as a director in Cisco systems, to quit the job for a Vulcan Project!

What do THEY mean by that? Business plans and financial records are available for serious supporters, who can show serious intent and not wasting time or remaining funds on goose chasing exercises, I am sure.

Have a look at the VTS web site forum, some are asking for two trustees to resign. If that happens a sponsor would come forward and gibe some not all – of the money required.

I am amazed to read the predicted cost of operation year on year , I appreciate that insurance will be significant as would be fuel , but as I understand it the number of flying hours per year is restricted to 100 (wasn’t this reduced from 200, as part of the second lottery bid?) The RAC are saying that if you only use your car a few days a week that will reduce your premium!! but surely with a newly refurbished A/C the maintenance costs for the first year are the lowest, increasing year on year pro rata, as per any other machine; does it have a minimum no. of hours it needs to fly,to comply with the lottery bid? or could they fly it as much as they could afford?

There is only a ‘X’ amount of places to display a Vulcan within the UK. 100 hours hours would cover the summer display and winter currency flights. Costs will remain high though due to operational requirments, one such if memory serves me right is that the engines have to be dropped and checked every 20 flying hours. Thats just one requirment, there are plenty more!

Of course is a sponsor with big bucks wanted the aircraft to appear week in week out, that would be taken into consideration, based on that toward the end of its flying life the displays would be limited – and I assume there will be air shows in 10 – 15 years time!

I can see an airshow in 2020.

    13.00 hrs Air display starts.

    13.05 Eurofighter

    13.12 Red Arrows

    13.20 Avro Vulcan

13.30 Airshow ends – thanks for coming !!!!!!

It seems we are in the final stages prior to insolvency of the charity at the begining of September.

The supporters club has issued a pledge program, just like we did back in 1992/3. The fact is the trustees need to see a pledges of £250k by 31st August and then pledges of £750K to first flight.

The lesson learned of better house keeping, nee Fundrasing has been learned, by those steering VOC.

PLEASE take note, there are one or two UK companies that I know of who have said they will invest in the project – BUT Housing keeping has to take place first.

My pledge will also be conditional that house keeping takes place.

We are a niche group of people, who are hacked off, thus our money is no longer forth coming, though we have all invested more than money into this project.
    Do check http://www.vulcantotheskyclub.com for updates.

The Vulcan belongs to us, we have a voice, if we want to express our selves??

Vulcan – are you sure there isn’t room for 903 at Farnborough? The Lightning nose is moving out. As for New Zealand and the Vulcan – care to tell us more about the connection in terms of the operational careeer of the type?

Taken from VTTS! I never mentioned an operational career visit.

Born in New Zealand , Felicity first came into contact with Vulcan when XH498 visited New Zealand to celebrate the opening of Wellington Airport .

903 will go in Flypast / E Bay in the next few months.

    Hi piccy of XA903 indeed!
F.A.S.T do not have room for XA903 I’m afraid. It would have been handy for 903 to go back to Farnborough. And yes there is a connection with New Zealand and Vulcans, and yes a museum is interested in 903 down there!
