Flights should be cheap – out of season and the kids back at school. Maybe Flypast could sponsor a Jolly Boys day out!!!

Yes – its BBC Worldwide, you need to contact, but they only licence the use of said films and it comes with lots of T&C’s. Such as not showing the reporters face in any of the footage or name caption. You will still need a company such as DD to produce it. I paid a fortune for my Vulcan footage such as from the Falklands Conflict on BBC News at the time.

The whole XH558 issue becomes more of a farce every week, and why oh why if it ever does fly do they want to send it to Duxford when it stops flying again, I did here something about it being kept in taxing condtion at Duxford but if thats the plan why not get XJ824 into taxing condtion ? and keep XH558 at Brunty after its flying life is over, or retire it to somewhere like Elvington.

Someone mentioned last week, maybe because one of the VTS Trustee’s is also involved in Duxford. It will never fast taxi there, if it did go there. Since when did Duxford have a policy of fast taxi’s? I would be asking for the TSR 2 to taxi first!

Ah but my thread was how B**dly good Robert and David’s article was on the project. Shame its not repeated on the offical web site really. I still think a forun visit to see 558 and Denis would be a good idea.

XL391 – Can we just be serious – there are 850,000 reasons why Denis might wish to stay. Anyone who is serious considering contributing to the project wants answers and might just feel that the figures are running away with them . There is a Bristol Freighter for sale at present that could be bought for 70K – small money in terms of VOC but any appeal to get her home certainly won’t get the coverage that VOC has attained over the years.

David is right. And 70K for a Bristol Freighter – wow yes please. Would it ever fly in the UK though?

Thanks – my first merged thread!
I would like to get back, to my original thread on the article in Flypast. I hope we find some time to what David – The Pilot and Robert the long standing Project Director along with Mr Ellis have recorded.
More so the end paragraph asking for help, not asking for money but asking around to see if any one can help them get a corporate(s) on board.
There is a spiralbound promo book that can be given to corporate decision makers. Contact Robert and he will take it forward. Or better still buy the DVD from me, cash, cheques, PAYPAL, credit cards. Just £10 +P&P and mention Flypast and I will include a free gift.

You can even buy the new Vulcan book Vulcan 607 by Roland White as well.

Hanger Gossip will only confuse the existing issues. The workers have signed up to a non disclourse contract so be careful not to disclose your ‘grass’!!

One big statement would help, stating exactly where the project is; what has been badly or mis-stated, and the current projections.

    Bruce

Maybe I should collect up the questions from the forum and ask in this new light of free info?

Yes I saw Roberts letter as well. I remember when I got my letter in the Mail back in 92! I think I will ask him. I expect the overall sum is £850K, but he needs £250 by August. If the RAF are bringing guys in for 5-6 months then we are looking at Nov/Dec rollout? Which is going to open another can of worms.

Vulcan – I am trying to think ‘out of the box’ as you so kindly put it! Refresh my memory -the Falklands was 1982 and the Glasnost etc was 1986 so when exactly did
the Cold War end and QRA really stand down to the threat from the east?
As for getting the Tories back in power – you might be in a minority in celebrating that!

Depends if you are talking history or actual goverment policy. Some say the Cold War ended with the Berlin Wall coming down and the changes within Europe starting in late 1989. Some say when Gorby took charge of the Polit Bureau. Some will say there is still a cold war, but not so visable.
I was at School at the time of Black Buck, and could not influence the country’s decision to vote Tory!

Hi Bruce, Yes I know, I am doing the same on e bay also, and I did think about giving a wedge also but decided not to. I like others will ‘give’ when I see air under the wheels. However I am flogging the DVD on E Bay and my online shop – waiving all bank, e bay and Paypal charges for the project.

United front – totally agree, maybe the article is a turning point for the project?
