Having been to Monino Air Museum near Moscow, the USSR had some hardware during the Cold War. Amazing aircraft and ideas. Shame they are left there to rot, with even the local Russians not that interested.

Worth going there for a weekend, you can get a cheapy flight to Moscow from London.

The project won’t collapse, the lottery required assurance from the VTS team, including the OEMs.
Of course – this is all dependant of the integerity of the aircraft each year of operation.
Also a huge insurance policy was required by the HLF against there funds to VTS.
Work has begun, lets be British and see it through. I am sure the display vailation flights will be a sight to see.
Forward thinking on the annual Opex costs to keep this cold war warrior flying should be discussed.
Lets hope the current fuel and oil prices drop some what in the next 12 months.

I think the meeting last year was to discuss moving 603 to manchester aero park.
Woodford’s days are numbered I suspect. Prime housing land at Woodford one can see.
I would suggest – that the first public flight of XH558 should be at Woodford, for historical reasons before the site closes.
    My opinion –

Yes the sticks I have, and also the left hand seat that belongs to 903. All in by the end of the year one hopes.

I believe its to be based there, from now on. Shame, quite a good looking beast. Apprently the owner use to pop over to the UK to take it for a spin down to Lands End and back to Bournemouth.

It should not have been a problem with re admittance to the site. Its happened before and we should have a sticker that you could put on your car when exiting allow the ATC to let you back in again.

As with the WAG museum opening times, I cannot control, but agree it would have been nice to see how my Mk1 Vulcan was getting on.

We ran late on getting the classic cars around XM655, and I was keen to get you to 655, even just for the shade!

Our thanks to everyone who came to see XM655 and the added value attractions. All very positive comments on this thread. The Blue Eagles and Air Atlantique did us proud.
Don’t forget !!! As I said on the PA on Sunday, keep an eye out in a few months time for the 655 DVD/Video. It will have some unique footage from the past 21 years from the day she left Waddington to Sunday’s event.

The CAA audit is in early July, with a view that the VOC engineers (undergo training at this time) will join MA to start work w/c 25th July.
No further access to the hanger for us until the public viewing gallery is built towards the end of the year.

If you order a Bacon Sandwich at the Caf, you should get the sandwich in time for the 2006 Taxi Run 😉

We will be EGR’ing XM655 on the Saturday around lunchtime. If you go to Wellesbourne Market you can park up and watch, as 655 will be directly in fron of you and will head towards you when the crew carry out the break check.
I totally support the Kemble Airshow and its growing into an airshow worth going to, its just a ruddy shame we do our taxi run on the same day – but hey ho.
It will work well in a year or two as 558 will transit to Kemble via Wellesbourne maybe…. 8 Olympus engines on the go 😮

And how close to the mighty Vulcan do you get and is the mighty Vulcan heading towards you or running past you – need to know for the ‘howl’ factor.

Hmmm. I saw the model Vulcan used for Thunderball in the hanger today at Bruntingthopre. Its owned by C Walton, they won’t hand it over to Vulcan To The Sky as they had an offer of £35k for it.
The mock up used for Thunderball was located in Florida. not sure what happened to it. I have a photo of it though – somewhere!

Everyone will be most welcome next year to Bruntingthorpe to see G-VLCN make her first public display.
Those who wish to see her display validation flights might want to hang around the Lincoln area prior to the first public display.

I wonder if Mike Beachyhead in South Africa gets as much negative attitude by aviation followers when he got the Lightnings and Bucc airworthly again?
