Alpha-Golf flying from New York entered British airspace for the last time at 3.15pm, dropping below the speed of sound off the west coast of Ireland.
The ‘boom’ travels 7 miles behind the aircraft leaving the ‘boom’ in the Altantic just off Ireland and not in the pub car park!

I don’t think so, she is now over to the west of the site. As for the F4’s, dunno. I think they are trying to hide them from the accounts at Whitehall and from the US satellites, so not to breach the Salt teaty!

    Calling Lord Marshall!

Welcome to our corner – Concorde. Here you have plenty of supporters for years to come here. We will look after you just like we do with the Vulcan.
I managed to stand on a 12 ft high fence and watch all three of you landed today, with out getting arrested. But I would have been happy to have been today!
I will see you at Filton next month and I can only hope that anyone in BA Land who reads this really thinks thinks hard about keeping one for display purposes. It would be there biggest PR they will ever achieve.
I flew on you in 1997 and the memory lives on forever.

Can you imagine the pitter patter of little Damiens running around RIAT or Duxford in years to come!

Still for sale at £10000! Price of scrap is not good so not currently viable to scrap. No doubt someone will buy the nose section!!!

Then someone better start taking to the museum or its recievers to secure a fine freighter. The price of scrap is low at the mo, so scrapping could prove costly. Action soon or she will be gone. Mind you I have been saying that about the Blackpool Vulcan for years and the ruddy thing is still there!

Two very different aircraft with two very different situations attached to them. End of thread?

The list is endless and changes on a monthly basis.

It would be a long e mail worth a look at http://www.museum-explorer.org.uk/museum-explorer/site_details_return.php?museum=9

The original 747 was to be a Conference centre but never happened so it was blown up, a few weeks later the SAS went in and blew the doors off from the outsite as well for training. Same idea for the tristar as well. Then a few blokes bought it and wanted to move it to Derby and open a cafe in it. Thus it never happened and was scrapped!
Rumour and I am not one for rumours! The Victor cockpit will be leaving soon as well as one of the Canberras.

I think it was Loughborough council who stopped the planning. Waltons appealed and lost. The main issue at the time was noise, from either aircraft or cars on the proving ground. There we sound recording machines on site for a year or two to monitor the noise level.
Planning permmission for aircraft is only granted for Pans 1, 2 & 3 all other areas are not permitted. That why you see them on those pans only.
The Taxi Days I would say from experience are not big earners for the Waltons, as they have to move 100’s of cars the weeks before and after. Also insurance fuel, the list is endless. That why Rolling Thunder/Big Thunder events are no longer held.
But yes good profile for the site. Ideal for Concorde fast taxi’s!!!

Ownership of 558 will pass to VOC if the HLF grant comes good, as the aircraft becomes an asset to the nation operated by the Vulcan To The Sky Trust. At the end the aircrat would retire to Duxford.

BAH is still going, and it represents a small workforce of volunteers who look after the Walton owned aircraft. Planning for a hanger/vistors centre was proposed and I saw the plans for this. At that time planning permission would be granted if all aircraft on site would no longer perform taxi runs.

This was a few years ago and thinks might have changed since then.

Bruntingthorpes income is car storage and it is a secure site.

Approx cost to put 558 back to original config would be £250K. Most parts have already been refurbished by the OEM’s and are still waiting dispatch back to Bruntingthorpe.
In 1993 C Waltons tender to aquire 558 was the most realistic out the short list of 7. Thus David and the family took delivery.
No one has ever gone this far to date with a complex aircraft in the UK, just need hard cash to make it happen.
I have seen some of the letters of support from Industry to the HLF about the grant bid, and feel positive that this project will go forward.
It will take £250K and the OK from the Walton family to put 558 back if the HLF fails, otherwise it will be dragged out of the hanger, and the hanger let for storage.

I came in on the 747 on Sunday. 14 minute flight from Heathrow. Best £99 I have ever spent for a flight. Captain talked through the take off and landing.
Fairford was the same old format. I remember 10 – 15 years back when aircraft would be holding on the taxi way waiting for the current display aircraft to finished. Now it long gaps, Tornado, gap F16, gap Tornado.
Good to see the F4 again.
RIAT have broken the golden £30 admission cost as well, and you don’t get to see a Canberra, Sea Vixen, Gnat or a Hunter in flight, which basically omits the Cold War years from history.
And to top it all off, all the marketing stuff had a very special aircraft pasted on it – Concorde and was it there, nope! Biggest let down and swizz RIAT have pulled off yet.
Rather than have two miles of static Tornado’s why not have them all up at teh same time!
Sadly RIAT is a big Corporate machine, and it is showing signs of age.

I suppose if you can call international to the number given and were picked you would be entitled to fly. Calls cost £2 in the UK. I think BA are keeping the fleet within the UK. But you never know! They have other ideas still to announce, including mass formation of either 4 or 5 birds which is rumoured!
