If it is a Cigar it will be a big one from HAVANHA.
the main thing she will fly when every thing is done and now before.
We all understand the barriers that have cropt up and the time delays so we all await for the big day to come.
All the best to the team.

    Like this you mean!

Maybe we’re not talking about the same thing here.

I’ve got two aircraft periscopes and was told that these were from ‘v-bombers’. One of them has a serial number crudely painted on it and when I looked it up it was the serial of a Valiant.

From the posts so far it doesn’t sound like either is from a Vulcan.

You might have a periscope from either XH536 or 537 as they tested Skybolt and had periscopes fitted where the sextant mounts were on a Vulcan.

It’s now October,it was supposed to fly in September and all the hot air has gone remarkably quiet. I really cannot see this becoming a reality anymore ?
Sorry if this sounds negative but press releases seem few and far considering the mighty public interest in this machine ever taking too the air .

It will be soon, just need to sort the trim on the flying controls, and inspection from the CAA – and of course a couple of days of good weather conditions.
I like to think that this time next month we will sit back with a fine cigar and all those who have donated can say …. we did it.

    After that though who knows!

And if this sort of interesting information is not recorded, it will be lost one day in the future!

Is there a book that covers all this in depth “history” gateways, RS – phoning in from Telephone Call Boxes etc. It would make a good read!

Earlier this year in Flypast, David Thomas mentioned that he would be flying a “Vulcan Lite” and that the howl may no longer happen. Also engines settings will be less to preserve them as its the engines that will life expire before the airframe, even though they have two sets of engines.
Also to remember they have only one fully documented nose wheel leg as a spare (I think).
I think we have to assume that gently does it for the time being with limited fly aways on shows.

The display will be based on the RAF display and that was submitted to the HLF when they applied for a lottery grant. The CAA is are aware ofthe display pattern also. So you will get around 7 or 8 minutes of a Vulcan in display, as long as you help keep her running for example the 558 monthly prize draw would be a good cash generator for the operation with a chance to win £558 each month.

Deary me, I wouldnt worry Steve, sounds like an appalling newspaper looking to stir up anger and discontent as usual. Thats what newspapers like the redtops excel in.

The Red Arrows did a flypast on the announcement we got the games, they did one for the 2002 commonwealth games and they’ve done flypasts at the British Grand Prix and numerous other national/international events in this country. Id imagine the games will be no different.

And if by magic, this thread lands here.

We are 5 years away before the big event, we have to ask our selves where will display aviation, both civil and military be at that time, more so in LondON

Load it up as well and drop the bloody lot on the T*****S in Downing Street.

    mick

    Mr Moocher
Are you allowing enough fuel to then transit to Brussels to a similar action?

Ah… If only Mrs T was at No 10, it would be so different and Z Cars was on TV along with the Duchess of Duke St…..I need a holiday.

I suggest this as an alternative:

No chance then of a Vulcan flypast.
Somebody has to sort this country out.
Note to self: revisit this thread in early 2012 and make sure the Reds are afforded the status to open the Olympics.
I expect the opening event will be hosted by Jo Frost or Tanya Bryant if its “assectable”……keep with me on this!

What do you think the pictures are of??? They took it apart to get her into the main hall…… 😀

Also you could argue that there are 2 already at Wellesbourne – XM655 and the nose of XA903.

But then the same can be said of Brunty (XH558 and nose of XM602) and Cosford (XM598 and nose of XA893) so not that special! lol :p

Also XH563 is up at Brunty making it 3 Vulcans!
