Not sure, our boss mentioned 4flankers coming to coningsby to fly against Typhoons of 3 Sqn. Think they’re here for a couple of weeks but not sure about RIAT. Would make sense though

Just scrap it, it’s an F4 that maintained security for the falkland islands after the conflict til 1991/2. A lot of Pilots and engineers and other support personnel where sent down there to carry out that job and did it well, some of them didn’t come back. Why does an F4 sitting outside an airport terminal glorify war. The locals won’t be arsed. It will be the Argies that visit regularly that we don’t want to upset. We are becoming a proper bunch o silly arses. laughable

If you are Corporal and above posted to Cranners on King Air’s, the RAF put you through them I believe as on Civi reg.

Unfortunately the BBMF of late has tended to keep those leaving the RAF on as Civilians working on the BBMF to retain the “knowledge” hence very very few new people get posted onto the Squadron compared to the past… Fine, but as they get older and retire, with the reduction of new RAF engineers learning as used to happen, they will end up with a skills deficit due to the lost turnover of manning..

Ive only been in the RAF for 14 years (get some time in) ,and only ever done 1st line (SQN) work with a short spell on 2nd line Typhoon. During my time on BBMF I learnt a hell of a lot about vintage aircraft which got me into volunteering for work restoring privately owned warbirds for which I get great satisfaction. If you have a passion for vintage aircraft, then as mentioned by most do a bit of volunteer work.
You could though go civvie and get a job working for your local airline, however understand this, the donkey’s at blackpool pleasure beach dont get whipped and get a longer tea break than you will! 😀 get brews in:rolleyes:
Joking aside though if you like vintage then go vintage.

Having calmed down now and stopped flapping over the activation procedure the p51 from warbirdsim is probably up there with the a2a p47, love it.

I paid £44 for it, it took them a week to activate it for me so I could’nt use it for a week and in the meantime they halved the price.
You live and learn eh, warbirdsim’s next addon can be the best in the world but I shall never buy anything from them again.

Interesting thread. Gone from wishing the pilot well and hoping he’s ok and to a speed recovery of a historic Hurricane aircraft to a debate over whether its right or wrong to photograph an aircraft misap. I wonder how many of you if told there were pics of say a spitfire wheels up on youtube would go and have a look.
Oh and god forbid use the word crash, when it obviously did’nt. However it was’nt a traditional landing and it will be fixed.
    picky picky picky

How long will it go on for!

How about Routine and Rules, they are not civvies they are RAF. Dont think there are many RAF display teams that chop n change a display routine. Only a thought.

Its safe to say that guns in the Uk don’t really sit well with the Uk public, if i said i shot 10 rabbits this morning with my rifle to prevent them eating veggie food and another guy said i killed 80 rabbits this morning by gassing them or ferreting the shooter would always be the bad guy. At the back of tattershall castle there is a small field were i walk the dogs and its heaving with rabbits, the field is full of holes and the rabbits now occupy the grave yard with holes alongside graves. People put little fences around the plots but it does’nt deter the innocent little creatures. So in this instance do you need to control the innocent creatures or let them carry on diggin. Hunting for conservation and control is one thing, hunting for fun is not acceptable but then i dont think there are any shoots in this country that would let you shoot a stag for fun and then just leave it there to rot or bleed to death.

Law abiding citizens of this nanny state have to jump through hoops to get a gun and our kids cant even play with toy ones in the street, yet gun crime has gone through the roof. Still i suppose restricting law abiding folk is better than chasing armed gangs cos that costs money and it might be dangerous.
