Wow, that is fantastic service and it sounds about right, from the brief description my father gave me of what she looked like when he took his first (of many) flights.
I’m not sure of the exact date but am led to believe that it was from Dunkerswell in Devon.
Thanks for the welcome as well.
The Luftwaffe wins, to keep it PC or Gordon Brown apologises for the RAF’s role in the battle ?
It’ll probably end in denial.
If only I hadn’t just paid the tax I’d have got this
I may have missed something but if one of the biggest factors that seems to be cited at present is the financial climate why not mothball her for a couple of seasons and then when the sponsorship is there again get her flying.
I’m sure that the situation isn’t exactly black and white and a lot would have to be done to take her off the airshow circuit for a couple of years but it would cost less.
If you wanted a positive image of your product you would have to exclude the majority of the crowd at Waddington last year for starters!
I understand where you are coming from, I was part of that crowd and on the day it really wasn’t clear what was going on, despite that I was very lucky to catch it at the Cosby show later in the year.
Historical accuracy depends on many things, if you are going to be a total purist then it could be argued that none of the current warbirds flying are actually accurate as they have all had replacement parts that have been created since they first flew.
It’s always nice to see things as they were in an ideal world but something is much better than nothing.
Great site and some lovely photos of the harriers, particularly the GR3 on the road
There you will see the fuel transfer plan for one of the BLACK BUCK’s.

lifted from here, hope they don’t mind the hotlink
don’t forget the land warfare hall if he’s into militaria………..
And hope the ‘bus service’ is running back as it’s a long walk
Nice content, not 100% sure on the design though 🙂
Gives me an excuse to post this up though…

Got plenty of this a/c but I do like this angle I got at flying legends in 2008
404 error on the link
that link now works, certainly sounds intriguing
There’s something about the Sunderland that I’ve always had a soft spot for, maybe the clean lines (if you ignore the aerials) and being a 4 engined flying boat it’s a bit different from the usual RAF stuff.
And yes I did have one as an Airfix kit, but then I had a lot of planes so that doesn’t count for much.
You might get some good ideas on damage and the rougher flying when more is known about Jackson’s Dam Busters which was supposed to have started filming last year.
