http://www.flickr.com/photos/ihpics/1217786738/sizes/o/ seems to show it but as far as I can make out it says

‘THE UNITED STATES 8th AIR FORCE
    801st/492nd BOMBARDMENT GROUP (h)?
Flew clandestine night missions from this secret airfield during world war two in black B-24 Liberator bombers
dropping munitions and supplies to underground resistance fighters in nazi occupied Europe
They parachuted and landed OSS agents into Belgium, Denmark, France, The Netherlands, Norway and Germany.
They also flew night bombing missions.
208 American aircrew gave their lives flying from this airfield’

Not 100% sure of what it says in the brackets but that is my best guess.

Nice colours on both, doesn’t the single display hawk normally have the RAFBF heart on it as 307 did last season?

Look forward to seeing the tucano flying this year.

Some amazing photos and probably a case that other technologies surpassed it or were just more affordable

What air base will the RAF be based at when all the cuts are done?

Everyone will be sat at home with a UAV linked to their xbox thus cutting out the need for bases.

Facebook group here if you want to show some support, there seems to be some noise being made about finding other uses for the base once the Harriers and staff have all left, otherwise the local economy is going to suffer.

    Only time will tell
