Ok, just some questions for you to comment on then…:

    1. Could Alpha One honestly be a success if it was relaunched properly?

    2. Does anyone know how much the company is actually worth?

    3. Would anyone be interested in a possible take-over bid? :diablo:

    1. The EDI IOM route could be a success, both BA and Euromanx typically flew 15-20 PAX per sector so on the 19 seater Halstead proposed there could be a high loading. Without the business case it’s impossible to say whether it would be profitable!

    2. Alphaone is virtually worthless. There aren’t any assets (planes, buildings, booking system, back office etc) , nor employees. The brand is positively shot and nobody would touch it with a barge pole let alone pay for it!

    3. Nothing to take over.

    Cash problem

As I understand it Alphaone isn’t dead, but won’t be flying until there is a substantial cash injection. The employees and intended employees have been let go.

I don’t think we will see any operations in the near future – unless there is someone out there with a few million and a strong nerve to back a 19 year old CEO with a strong PR track record but no actual delivery todate.

    Bye Bye

Hate to be the bearer of its demise but news from Ronaldsway (IOM) is that Alphaone will not be flying the IOM – EDI route.

Sounds like the CAA or EASA have finally issued a directive to install ACAS on a/c such as the J31/32.

Certainly wouldn’t be surprised if it took a couple of weeks to incorporate the mod, especially if it wasn’t planned – taking account of spares and manpower availability.

Probably got tangled up it the following CAA proposal. The J31/J32 has a maximum TOW in excess of 5700Kg and hence it would be affected by the proposed change.

“Proposal to Amend The Air Navigation Order 2000 to Require the Carriage of Airborne Collision Avoidance System II by all Civil Fixed-wing Turbine-powered Aircraft having a Maximum Take-off Mass Exceeding 5700 kg, or a Maximum Approved Passenger Seating Configuration of More Than 19”

With any luck we will see the booking system up and running by mid-Feb and A1 in the air in March! 🙂

Heard that the EU is going to inforce the compensation rulling on RYR and All locost , dosent matter how little you pay for a Ticket

I think it’s always been the case, just not enough people know or can be bothered to push for compensation.

The BA site has one of the better EU Air Passenger Rights downloads at http://www.britishairways.com/travel/euclaimnor/public/en_gb.

applies to all EU carriers or flights originating in the EU. 😉

    Non-issue

    Even if this is a wind-up it’s a non-issue.

There appears to be some confusion over Company names and Trademarks here.

Alphaone does not own nor has it applied for the UK trademark Alphaone. Anyone could go and apply to register the name Alphaone if they so wished. If Martin has any sense (and spare cash) and intends to trade as Alphaone he should apply for the UK Trademark now.

Alphaone is not the company name nor is it a UK company. Alphaone is the trading name of One Aviation Manx Ltd – a Manx company registered in the Isle of Man

    Update

I believe that Alphaone will be flying the EDI IOM route from the 1st February. The booking system will re-open next week.

The lack of flights recently has been due to the fact that it has not been possible to book flights since mid-December, hence few passengers. Those that have had tickets have either had refunds or alternative carriers offered to them.

Big question is will there be many passengers in February? I’ve seen no adverts alerting punters to the ‘commencement’ of operations.

Lets hope I dont have to eat my hat on this one!!!

I didn’t ask about the Edinburgh route I’m afraid – I was just interested in the Cardiff-IOM one. However, I had assumed judging by the number of cancelled flights to EDI that the whole thing was on hold.

Thanks – I’ll give them a call. Edit Just called and the office is closed, but atleast the Hogmanay reference has been removed. 🙂

I rang the call centre yesterday – after about a minute of being told by a recording about flying to Edinburgh to celebrate Hogmanay (!) and that my position in the queue was ‘One’ I got through to an operator to learn that the Cardiff launch is postponed to February because they haven’t got a plane. I am sceptical that it will ever get off the ground judging by the recent experience of the IOM Edinburgh route, and the complete absence of any marketing – by Alpha One or the airports in question – of the new route.

Hypercelt – Did they say if the Edinburgh route was postponed to February when you called?

    Alphaone update

I think it’s most unfair to suggest that alphaone is not flying the IOM-EDI route. I have it from a good source that they fly passengers with BA via Manchester.

Anyone caught out should get a copy of the EU Air Passengers Rights. Its quite clear that they have to offer the option of a refund or alternative transportation. If they cancel within 7 days of the flight they are also required to pay compensation.

I must say it’s a strange way to run an airline!

More worringly the BA Connect (sounds a bit like BP Connect?) fares might be a real problem for Alphaone. I think with all the delays quite a few punters will opt for the BA route via MAN for £100 return and a decent chance of getting there !

With all respect, no you haven’t. I’m not asking for names, location, date of birth and employee number or such.

I’m asking where you get your info from.

Bemused55 – Why don’t you post something factual and of relevance to this thread rather than having a go at those who do.

    HiddenEurope – great post.

OK Bemused55 – are you in the pay of alphaone?

Please point to anything I have posted since joining the thread that has been anything other that factual.

It’s in nobodies interest to have misinformation on this board.

Well there’s commitment, sounds like alphaone have scrambled a plane to fly in to the IOM to fly the 08.15 at 11.00. Bet the pilot was pleased when he got the call!

One of the 3 passengers has a contract to be signed by noon so he better put his foot down, or should that be pull the throttle back?

Bemused55 – Everything is available to those who ask. I have nothing to do with the media, who I agree with you, do tend to exaggerate to make a good story. Unlike the media, I dont – just plain facts so the forum members can draw their own conclusions.

PS Ediair your the only passenger on Wednesday morning – good luck!

Oh Dear Oh Dear… Not good news…

3 passengers stranded in Ronaldsway this morning.

Departure board showing “Go to Departures” but no plane arrives.

Mr Halstead cant be contacted on his mobile. Nobody at alphaone answering the phones, so ATC contacted to find out where is the plane? – ATC response – no flight scheduled.

Call centre contacted to find out what’s going on – suggestion that they may have forgotten to pass on the bookings…

I’m flying (?) alphaone on Wednesday morning and will post a full account here.

Mr Halstead, if you still have time to read this forum, don’t let me down tomorrow as potentially I’ll be your most frequent flyer on this route.

Flight Support the handlers at IOM say that because there has been no marketing of the route that there have been few bookings as yet. BUT if there is a booked passenger for a flight then alphaone will fly.

Ediair – Your flight on Wednesday should be an interesting test of this Alphaone company statement…
