Planning permission has been applied for to use Wisley airfield as a film set for a specific film sometime over the next 18 months.
No idea what film though I’m afraid.
With all the metal thefts going on I’d like to know why the dealers that buy the stuff aren’t getting prosecuted. They must have suspicions about a fair bit that comes in but still buy it.

Hmm In two minds on this one.
Yep I can fully understand the frustration, been there. I once got on an aircraft and decided I didn’t want to work it. However I didn’t sabotage the aircraft. I walked off, got an engineer to drive me back to base, got the missus to pick me up and had a beer at home.
Aircraft, passengers and crew carried on as normal and I dealt with my issues separately.
As everyone says, aload of bull. What would be the point of people standing if it wasn’t to get more punters on board. The numbers are often controlled by how many you can get out in under 90 seconds as well as the seat surviveability.
Well said O
People put money in because it is a Vulcan not because it is another old aeroplane needing help.
I don’t give my money exclusively to aviation projects. I give it to causes I am interested in. I don’t have a particular budget to move between different causes.
A sponsor would be nice but I’ve long since accepted that if I want to see the Vulcan I’ll have to put my hand in my pocket.
Old aircraft always cost more than you expect and the current economic climate makes it difficult to get commercial sponsorship.
Thanks Anna
Have you got any pics of Jonathon & Miss D on the ground? We don’t see many up close pics of her.
Yep I agree with that first Reds pic. Also think the Typhoon is spot on and to get Jonathon and Miss D as you did was superb. Biggin can be very difficult with the angle of the light.
What spec lens were you using just as a matter of interest?
Interesting discussion. Whilst we all might have views on the evidence presented to date whilst there is a theoretical risk should we not all obey the requests of the airline we are travelling with? During my cabin crew days we used to confiscate alcohol that passengers were drinking that wasn’t supplied by us for ‘safety & legal reasons’. I don’t see why that can’t be extended to ‘phones. I once had a phone pinging in an overhead locker that was a pain in the a*** in business class. It took a lot of polite asking to get the owner to dig it out and turn it off completely.
As for petrol forecourts, well when I managed them many years ago I used to walk across the forecourt with a fag in my hand when the weather conditions were suitable, ie not when it is warm and you can see the vapours floating around. However I still boll***** the punters if they did the same!
I suppose we should all set an example and obey our hosts requests really.
Very brave to try to make this project work but all the best with it. Any ideas on what quantity of parts are still available after the auctions when they were retired?
I take it you are aware of this research http://silentaircraft.org/
I was at a dinner the other night and Tony Cottee was the guest speaker. He said that what you see is what you get with Chris. You never know what he is going to come out with.

Been a while since I went over regularly so stand to be corrected on this.
My understanding is that as a member of the EU you had free access across borders but still needed to show ID such as an ID card or passport.
However if you are travelling between schenegen countries and hold citizenship of that country then you could cross using that channel without being asked to show ID. All about open borders without an interference. The UK did not sign up to this as we still wanted to check the ID’s of people passing across our borders.
Nothing fancy. Personally I’d rather stand in a queue for a few minutes and know ID’s are subject to some sort of check on a border.
