Anyone know if they will employ 787 technologies like carbon fibre on the i? As you can tell I’m no engineer!

I’ve never worked the 767 so you might have to take this with a pinch of salt.
Basic regs are one exit per 50 pax. Therefore if they’ve reduced the overall numbers them the extra exits would be redundant.
If they were std type 3 over wing exits I can’t see why they would be closed up for maintenance reasons. Generally they aren’t touched except in planned maintenance. Engineers rather you don’t open them even in training, seals etc.
Has anyone checked to see whether they’ve changed the config and have something like a loo or galley in that area now which is the reason for the blanking?

Back in ’95 I did a season with a charter outfit on 737 – 200. I recall on one trip we did this to get out of somewhere so we didn’t end up out of hours as there were delays getting a tug. Don’t ask me where it was ’cause I ain’t got a clue! Also don’t know if the crew were authorised to do it either, we were just grateful to get away and so didn’t ask. Was probably one of those 12 hour rostered days that turned in to whatever with discretion.
In my four years on ATR’s elsewhere we never did it once. Benefit of an ATR is you can turn around on stand as you pull on so you move off in the right direction to start with!

Sorry Ivan, You’re right your first post is a few pages back now! I didn’t see it.
Why on earth do some TV companies send ‘dollies’ to report on these things rather than someone who has a clue? We have plenty of experienced commentators who could have done a proper job. Atleast the local beeb guy got it right.

Absolutely Brill. If you have a Sky box scroll down the programmes list to just before the radio channels. You get the xtra BBC regions here. Select BBC East Midlands at tea time. It was their lead story at lunchtime and did a live piece. Camera work was good with both take off and landing. 🙂

Please add my thanks to those above. These accounts are far better than anything else for understanding exactly what went on and why. Could read them all day if I didn’t have to go to work in a minute!

I don’t mind particularly who makes it. After all the original crew for the raid was multi national.
What I don’t want to see in the film is the usual ‘love story’ running side by side with the main one to appeal to another audience. Drives me nuts.
Also, how much will they want for the plastic models when they’ve done I wonder? Won’t mention that to the wife just yet!:)

Whatever, I think Moggy is correct, it would have been better to word the NOTAM differently in the first place. Having to work with a similar scenario in a different industry I think it likely there is already written permission in place to allow them to cross whenever they like.

Yep I’m afraid to say that is the going rate. That’s why all six of my cats are insured. One of which has cost the insurance company far more than we’ve paid for the lot of them over the last 8 years. The three chickens aren’t I’m afraid. A different fate awaits them if they get ill. Sad but it’s difficult to justify the cost for them. Considering they were battery hens that were due to be dispatched by the farmer after just a year but then rescued and brought to me to see out their days naturally I don’t think they’ve done too bad though.

Only did one summer season on them but remember them well. Very cold sitting on a box by 1R at 03:00 when the pax were asleep. The more senior CC having preference over the seat!
Coming back empty from MAN, lining up, brakes on, power up and then letting it go like a rocket cause ATC had already cleared you up to whatever level as the skies were quiet. The area around us certainly wasn’t with the noise we must have made. Colleagues trying to surf down the aisle on a tray when we did it!

    Absolutely brilliant.

Count the rivets on the Lancasters.

…as an aside, during the performance to a near capacity house and at a tense and quiet point where they are waiting at Bomber Command for news, somebody lost control of an empty popcorn tub. It ceremoniously rolled slowly step by step, plonk by plonk, down the central aisle steps. On coming to rest a wag at the rear called.

    “Bombs gone”.

    Mark

Absolutely priceless. Best laugh I’ve had in ages.
    Cheers

Evening All, No this isn’t the first time the Reds have landed at Dunsfold. We have some pics at work of them on the ground there in 2005, somewhere around June or July if I remember correctly. We’d rented part of the airfield for some ground work and they came in over the top before landing. We have a picture of the reds lined up with one of our vehicles at the end of the line! Wicked pic for us but would be nothing to anyone else!
Flapjack, my missus absolutely loves your aircrafts paint job! We have a couple of weeks leave coming up. As we might be in that part of the world for a couple of days is it possible to visit your beast at Exeter to see the paint scheme up close?
    Regards
    John

Just had another thought. BAA have a noise complaints phone no. see

Maybe worth an ‘enquiry’ ? They can track anything.
