You are correct about the J-11BS, it was a typo of my part since the original source of the picture it indeed says J-11BS in that i was wrong due to a mistake of typing and bad memory, however some people call J-16 a derivative of J-11BS, therefore my mistake.
About the ASM missile, please understand i am not saying it, it is several Chinese media internet outlets who are saying it, you are free to believe they are wrong, me i am posting what i found in more than 3 chinese websites that specialize in news and military news.

Root of J-20 canards is on the same position to main wings while canards on Rafale is above the wings. Is this why the Chinese have no choice but to angle the canard above the wings to generate vortex to the same effect?
It won`t generate the same effect same, but it will improve it from the mid position no dihedral canard. it is a fix in the same way the F-15 ACTIVE has it

Rafale has a much better configuration in aerodynamics, the Chinese made a quick fix, but still will generate higher lift than if it was co-planar with no dihedral.
But this is not because they did not know an above the wing root close coupled canard is better for lift generation, since J-10 has that configuration, but simply because the Rafale is mid winged while J-20 is high winged, so yes they did not have choice, stealth was priority on the design of J-20 rather than aerodynamics
