Sounds like a decent purchase to me, those Aussies are good at getting bargaisn that other countries no longer have a use for.

What bargain? those are brand new planes, and about 1.4 Bn bucks

what are the Czechs and Poles saying about the C-295?
it seems the closest to the An-26 and An-32 in terms of size. or maybe that’s the problem.. didn’t adopt a wide body layout like the C-27J

Well the polish air force bought three batches of 295´s. But in Czech Republic, Omnipol was in the middle of the deal between Eads Casa and the air force, probably the most expensive 295´s until now. And the air force has some troubles with them, Omnipol says is eads fault, and vice versa.

Casa had the project of a big twin engined plane before than the A-400 project, C-2XX was called, so it´s nothing new. And for now the 295 is a better value for your money than the C-27J, as happenned with the G-222 Vs CN-235.

Does one of you Spanish guys know the dates when the Escuadrons 111 & 112 have been inaugurated? Afaik 111 was inaugurated in May 2006, but is that correct and on what day? And what about the 112?

111 Escuadrón was reactivated in 2003, October 16. They received the planes a year later, don´t have the exact data for the 113 Escuadrón. Supposedly the new EF-2000´s are for the 14th Wing, so the 112 has to wait for a while.

At least were a couple of “Bombphoons” in Zaragoza for the exercise.

So are frontline Ejercito pilots flying air-to-ground sorties, Roberto? Or is it more a trials/operational evaluation kind of thing?

That Ef-2000 was in the exercise along with Ala 14 Mirage´s and Ala 12 and 15 EF-18´s, all operational issues.

    Right back at you.
Tornado missions : interdiction, strike (ground, anti-ship and nuclear), electronic combat, reconnaissance, buddy refuelling, self defence with AIM-9 or ASRAM and two 27 mm cannon.

An avionic upgrade could see longer ranged AAM used. So yeah all in all the Tornado is more multi-role and versatile.

I Thought that the Kormoran was retired without replacement, at least for now.

Last time I saw a Ov-10, the machine guns were 7,62×51 mm, an M-60 version.

as long as they don’t bring in the Germans and Spaniards.. i could see it working..

and the French will end up building something very sleek looking too.. but at the price of two F-35s. 😮

Bring back the american plane, and the good old 120% offsets. Bye french leadership, bye british politicians.

Now Equatorial Guinea is also operating a single S-92 for VIP duties. White scheme like the Mi-17 fleet.

In the last meeting between the portuguese MoD and the spaniard one, they were talking about cooperation between the C-295 fleets, and our local press said that there was some portuguese intentions about Ec-135´s assemblied in Albacete. Just that.

We signed the deal almost ten years ago, supposedly, all the Tigers HAD should be delivered between 2007 and 2010, in 2012 we don´t have the first delivered, and we already paid a bit more than a billion euros for them. And the company paid 0€ for the delays…what a deal.

Who’s talking about small change like airplanes? You made a slight about other European countries being late to deliver etc. Spain is synonymous across Europe, much like Greece, as an example of poor working practices. Maybe the RAF would be able to afford lots of nice new airplanes if the government wasn’t having to cut the armed forces budget, not to reduce its overall spending, but to provide budget increases and loans to Europe…

So, basically we are a country with poor working practices that can keep his word and buy all the planes we signed. And now even is our fault the huge debt of the UK. We are the devil…

People from Spain complaining about project delays and implying other European countries are lazy? Oh my, there’s some serious hypocrisy there!

Yeah, we are so hyprocrites that we are not selling our EF-2000´s as second hand planes to third countries, and keeping our % of the project. And we signed 27 A-400´s and stay with 27…some european countries could learn something.
